The Players Have Spoken: Titleist Sweeps Every Equipment Count at the Farmers Insurance Open

We’re a month into the new golf season and with four events in the books, players across the worldwide golf tours have shaken off the rust and are beginning to hit their strides. And when it comes to the equipment they’re trusting their games to in 2019, the world’s best players are giving an unprecedented vote of confidence to Titleist.

Two weeks ago at the Sony Open in Hawaii, Darrell Survey reported that Titleist was the clear top choice of players across every major equipment category. This across-the-equipment-board success was validated and reaffirmed by players at this week’s Farmers Insurance Open, where Titleist was, once again, the overwhelming top choice of more of the players from tee-through-green ... from the GOLF BALL through EVERY major GOLF CLUB category.

Of the 156 players competing at Torrey Pines GC this past week, 72% (112 players) trusted a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success, nearly six times the nearest competitor with 12% (19 players).

The New Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls were introduced to rave reviews at the PGA Merchandise Show and are now available in pro shops everywhere. Billy Horschel finished solo 8th at the Farmers playing the New Pro V1x for just the second time in competition. He put it into to play for the first time at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Titleist was also the top choice in the driver (47), fairway metal (57), hybrid (24) and irons (48) categories. Scotty Cameron putters were the top choice among players with 63 models in play and Vokey Design Wedges topped the approach, sand and lob wedge (219) category. In fact, more than half of all the gap, sand and lob wedges in play at the Farmers Insurance Open was a Vokey Design model. That is more than all other wedges from all other brands combined. The winner relied upon a Vokey Design SM7 lob (60.10K) that he put into play for the first time at last week's Desert Classic.

The count success at the Farmers Insurance Open marks the the fourth consecutive week that Titleist was the most played driver on the PGA TOUR. This past week at Torrey Pines GC, 41 of the 47 Titleist drivers in play were new TS models (TS2 - 12 | TS3 - 29), surpassing the number of all of the nearest competitor's driver models combined (36).

 Adam Scott | Pro V1, TS3 driver (9.5), TS2 fairway metal (16.5°), 716 T-MB 3-iron, 680 4-9 irons, Vokey Design SM7 pitching (48.08F), gap (52.08F), sand (56.10S) and lob (60.06K) wedges, Scotty Cameron TFB putter.

Among those players trusting TS metals was Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott, who posted a 19-under-par 269 total to finish in solo 2nd place at The Farmers.

Not only was Titleist the top choice in drivers on the PGA TOUR, it was also the field favorite for the second straight week on the Web.com Tour, and the TS3 was the most played driver model for the second consecutive event on the European Tour.

“This first win means a lot. For me, for Puerto Rico, for the kids to understand that I’m a kid from the island that worked my butt off and won a tournament. I hope this serves as motivation because we have great talent there. I know they are celebrating back home.”

These were the thoughts expressed by Rafael Campos after he captured The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic to become the first Puerto Rican champion in Web.com Tour history. Campos closed with a 2-under-par 70 en route to a 7-under 281 victory total under extreme windswept conditions.

Campos played the Pro V1 golf ball for the victory and follows season-opening champion Marty Dou into the 2019 Web.com Tour Winners’ Circle.

The winner was also playing the new TS3 (9.5°) driver for the first time in competition, switching from a competitive model that he used the week prior. He also trusted his short game to three Vokey Design SM7 wedges (50°, 56°, 60°).

Of the 132 players competing at The Bahamas Abaco Classic, 68% (90 players) trusted a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success, six times the nearest competitor with  11% (15 players).

Titleist was also the top choice among players in the driver (40), hybrid (19), iron (45) and wedge (182) categories for the second consecutive week to start the 2019 season.
