LPGA | ISPS Handa World Invitational 2021
Pro V1 loyalist Pajaree Anannarukarn claimed her first LPGA victory with a playoff win in Northern Ireland.
- The 22-year-old Thai who birdied the par-4 17th to close in 3-under 70 and force the extra session, won with a par on the second playoff hole.
- Two weeks ago, Anannarukarn shot four rounds of 67 or better to finish T3 at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and post what was then her best-ever LPGA finish.
- At last week’s Evian Championship, she finished T10, her best finish in a major.
- “Honestly, just speechless… I just wanted to keep doing what I’ve been doing and really try to stay focused on my game, and obviously it turned out good,” she said.
- Anannarukarn joined fellow first-time winner and Titleist golf ball player Daniel Gavins, who won the men’s division playing 2021 Pro V1x.
ANANNARUKARN MARKS HER PRO V1 WITH ‘GOOD LUCK’
During Pajaree Anannarukarn’s post-victory press conference, one media member asked “I know you write ‘good luck’ on your golf ball (Pro V1) – at what point today did you feel luckiest?”
“I just feel like I always want to look at something, especially on the golf ball,” Anannarukarn said. “I always put ‘good luck’ on it to see some positive things. I feel like everything I went through today and especially on hole 6, I think I was really lucky and enough that I was able to pull out this win.”
EUROPEAN TOUR | ISPS Handa World Invitational
Playing a Pro V1x golf ball, Daniel Gavins posted a flawless 5-under 65 Sunday to win his first European Tour title in dramatic fashion.
- Gavins, who made just one bogey over his final 61 holes, started the day seven shots back of the lead.
- He rolled his 2021 Pro V1x in for birdie from over 50 feet three times – on the par-4 6th, 13th and 16th holes – helping him get to 13 under and claim the one-shot victory in Northern Ireland.
- The 30-year-old Englishman, who also holed a bunker shot for birdie on the par-3 5th, made over 200 feet in putts for the round.
- “It just feels amazing,” Gavins said. “I don't think it’s going to sink in for a while. Yeah, it’s just a dream come true really. To be honest I thought I was going to be a few shots short of winning, so to win, it’s just – I just can't really believe it.”
- Gavins joined fellow first-time winner and Titleist golf ball player, Pajaree Anannarukarn, who won the women’s division playing 2021 Pro V1.

- Pettit, who won the NCAA individual championship two months ago in his final start as a Clemson senior, was playing in only his third event as a professional.
