Notes From the Field

BILLY HORSCHEL ON HIS PRO V1

  • “I like playing with spin and the consistency of the spin rates on all my clubs throughout the bag with Pro V1, whether I’m hitting a full shot or half shot, they’re really consistent on every shot.”
  • “The control of the Titleist golf ball is by far better than any ball on the market. When you hit a shot, when you try to hit a five-yard draw, you want that ball to turn five yards. You don’t want it to draw 10 yards, or you don’t want it not to draw. When you’re trying to hit a little chip that you want to spin, bounce two times and check, you don’t want to be thinking in the back of your mind, ‘Is this golf ball going to do what I want it to do?’ To be able to control the golf ball is such a vital key in the game of golf. Doesn’t matter what level you’re at. When you’re expecting a shot to turn out a certain way, control-wise, and that golf ball is not doing what you want, you have an issue – and with a Titleist golf ball, I’ve never had an issue once.”
  • “It’s a fine margin out here on the PGA TOUR and if you can find any little bit of an edge to give you that little bit of advantage I’m going to take it. … I want to know that if I hit the shot the way I want, it’s going to produce the results I want, and I get that and I’ve gotten that throughout my entire career with the Titleist golf ball.”

AARON WISE ON HIS PRO V1

  • “I just feel like Pro V1 is the most consistent ball across the bag. I feel like I always know what it’s going to do. I’ve played [a Titleist golf ball] since I was a kid, so I’ve learned it in and out. It’s got great spin around the greens, it’s long off the tee, and then my biggest thing is with iron shots in the wind, how the ball’s reacting and cutting through the wind, and I feel like the Pro V1 does an amazing job of that.”
  • “One of the things I love about the Pro V1 is when I hit it hard, it doesn't get too spinny, but when I hit these little half shots and feel shots, which we do a lot with wedges to take a lot of spin off, it doesn’t lose too much spin to where it falls out of the air. And one of my favorite things to do is control my irons, especially with the middle irons, and just keep the ball down and not hit it very hard, because I feel like it keeps it out of the elements. So I feel like this ball does a great job of going low, but still having enough spin to stop on the greens and not roll out too far.”
  • “Out here when they tuck pins, you have three, four yards at most in order to either have a great shot, or be shortsighted and kind of out of position, so knowing that this ball is going to fly the exact number that it’s going to, and I’ve got that dialed in with the TrackMan, it’s a huge deal knowing that it’s going to land within that gap, because if it doesn’t, you’re in a lot of trouble.”

CHAMPION CHOOSES 13 TITLEIST CLUBS

  • The winner of the Memorial Tournament relied on a Pro V1 golf ball and 13 Titleist clubs, including a TSi3 driver, two TSi2 fairways, 620 CB and MB irons and three NEW Vokey Design SM9 wedges.
  • The champion – who finished the week T7 in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (+1.28) and T11 in Driving Accuracy (76.79%) – was one of the first players to get fit into a Titleist TSi driver when the models debuted on TOUR in September 2020.
  • He put his TSi3 immediately in play in his first opportunity at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, switching from a competitive brand, and has had it in the bag ever since.
  • “The combination of speed and stability he was seeing with TSi3 was so good that he decided to make the switch right away at the U.S. Open,” said J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s Director of Player Promotions.
  • Titleist TSi drivers have since become the most played driver on the PGA TOUR.
