Garrick Higgo Secures His First Career PGA TOUR Victory at Congaree Golf Club

PGA TOUR | Palmetto Championship at Congaree

Competing in only his second-career PGA TOUR event, Titleist Brand Ambassador Garrick Higgo came from six shots back entering the final round to claim a one-shot victory at Congaree Golf Club, becoming the first player to win in one of his first two starts on the PGA TOUR since 1988.

  • Higgo – playing a NEW Pro V1x golf ball and bag full of Titleist equipment, including a TSi3 driver, TSi2 fairway, TSi3 hybrid, T100 irons, Vokey Design SM8 wedges and NEW Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 tour prototype putter – was the only player to shoot all four rounds in the 60’s (68-69-68-68), playing his final seven holes in 3 under to complete the Tour’s largest final-round comeback this season.
  • The left-handed Higgo, who has now won three times worldwide in 2021 including a pair of wins on the European Tour, ranked fourth in greens in regulation at 75% (54/72), hitting 13% more than the field average.
  • With the win, he is immediately eligible for membership on the PGA TOUR thru the 2022-23 season.
  • Higgo, the first South African to win on the PGA TOUR at age 22 or younger since 1958, is also competing in the U.S. Open this week at Torrey Pines.

WHAT’S IN GARRICK HIGGO’S BAG?

Golf Ball: NEW Titleist Pro V1x
Higgo’s switch to the NEW Titleist Pro V1x golf ball earlier this season saw him gain distance off the tee with increased spin control into and around the green.

  • The amount that the new X is helping me around the greens – it’s amazing,” he said. “But I’m gaining strokes in every part of my game.”

Putter: NEW Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 tour prototype
Higgo switched to the NEW Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 putter from a competitive model at the European Tour’s Austrian Open in mid-April, one week before his victory at the Gran Canaria Open.
