PGA TOUR | AT&T Byron Nelson Championship

K.H. Lee, playing a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, claimed his first PGA Tour title Sunday in Dallas, finishing with two birdies after a rain delay of more than two hours to close in 6-under 66 and win by three shots.

• Lee, who posted four rounds of 67 or better, finished second in Strokes Gained: Approach to the Green (+8.272), while hitting 58 of 72 greens (81%) for the week.
• With the win, Lee qualified for this week’s PGA Championship and moved from 137th to 59th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
• Titleist Brand Ambassador Patton Kizzire posted a Sunday-best 8-under 63 to finish tied for third with Pro V1x loyalist Scott Stallings and the World’s 16th-ranked player (Pro V1).
• The winner of the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship also played a Titleist fairway (TS3 15.0°), hybrid (TS3 19.0°), utility iron (U•500 4 iron) and Vokey Design wedges (SM7 52.08F @ 51, 56.14F, 60.08M).

SPIETH SWITCHES TO NEW PRO V1x

Jordan Spieth teed up a NEW Titleist Pro V1x golf ball for the first time in competition at the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship, opening with a 9-under 63 on his way to a T-9 finish.

• Spieth, who was playing in his first event since the Masters, had been testing the 2021 model during practice sessions in the week leading up to the event.
• Spieth has played a Pro V1x for his entire career.
• When he made his debut at the Byron Nelson’s PGA TOUR stop as a 16-year-old amateur in 2010, he also teed up a Pro V1x golf ball.

SPIETH ON PERFORMANCE OF 2021 PRO V1x

“I’m trying to optimize launch conditions through the bag. For me, the 2021 Pro V1x, I get more spin around the greens. It’s softer, spinnier around the greens with my short game shots. And then when I went up the bag, I started to get a little bit higher launch, but it didn’t add spin in the long clubs. It just added ball speed and launch. So it’s a little higher window, but it just looks like it’s screaming through the air. And then from the 7-iron on down, I didn’t see much difference in the full shots, just like I said more action around the greens." 

“I’m trying to just hit optimal windows and if I can gain – really, in my long clubs – just a little bit better peak height with a little bit faster ball speed, it actually helps fill my gaps a little bit easier. And then it’s just coming down – it has the potential to come down a little bit softer, which is obviously important. But I’m not seeing a massive difference through kind of that mid iron into short iron. And I still can hit each shot that I want to with the scoring clubs. So being able to tee off and all you do is change the ball and it’s actually in a similar window that’s going 3-4 yards further, that's nice. And then when I get to the scoring range clubs, I feel like if anything, I just have the ability to hit an even softer shot if I want to. But the rest of them were all still there.”

“When you get into some trouble with some windy, tough golf courses, and you've got to hit these shots to short sided hole locations, to be able to have that extra spin around the greens will be really nice.”

SPIETH ON TESTING 2021 PRO V1x

“It was really like three days of hitting balls in different conditions into the wind, downwind, trying to get a nice day in there, too, where you kind of don’t have to fight any. And then hitting shots around the greens, being comfortable with that feel – which was easier. If you can get a little more spin, that’s only going to make things better. But really in those kind of three-quarter wedge shots, a lot of different kind of wedge control shots with the scoring clubs, I was looking at – How different does it feel? Am I getting any that are problematic? I like to play my wedges lower. And so just having a little bit of that extra spin I think is going to make it even more consistent.”

WORLD’S 16TH-RANKED PLAYER ADDS TITLEIST DRIVER

The 16th-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking switched from a competitive model to a Titleist TS3 9.0° driver (Fujikura Ventus 6 Black X) that he brought with him to Dallas.

• He finished the week tied for third on the leaderboard, while finishing third in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (+4.355).
• Titleist is the most player driver this season on the PGA TOUR, as Titleist drivers have been teed up a total of 1,210 times, more than 300 times more than the nearest competitor (863).
• Titleist TSi3 drivers are the TOUR’s most popular model (728), with nearly double the amount of uses than the nearest competitive model (371).  

EUROPEAN TOUR | Betfred British Masters

Richard Bland captured his first European Tour victory with a dramatic finish at The Belfry.

• Playing a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, Bland made a 30-footer for birdie on the 72nd hole to close in 6-under 66 and force a playoff, which he won with a par on the first extra hole. Bland, at 48 years and 101 days old, became the oldest first-time winner in European Tour history.
• For the week, Bland finished third in Strokes Gained: Approach (+2.5), hitting 82% of his greens in regulation.
• He led the field in Scrambling, getting up-and-down 12 of the 13 times (92%) he missed the green.
• Said Bland, who moved to 14th in the Race to Dubai Rankings: “It’s probably going to take a few days to sink in. It’s what I’ve worked for for 20 years. That’s what we all work for, to win out here and try and prove yourself. I’ve had a few close calls and I assume someone up there was looking down on me quite favorably today. It was just my day.”

KORN FERRY TOUR | Visit Knoxville Open

Playing a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, Greyson Sigg captured his first victory on the Korn Ferry Tour and secured his PGA TOUR card for next season.

• Sigg, who opened the tournament with a 9-under 61, came from three shots back at the start of the final round to win by one shot over Stephan Jaeger (Pro V1).
• Sigg closed in 4-under 66, leading a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist golf ball players.
• Seth Reeves (Pro V1) finished third, two back of Jaeger.
• The victory, Sigg’s eighth top-10 of the season, moved him to No. 2 in the Korn Ferry Tour point standings and over the 1700-point threshold needed to finish inside the top 25 and earn a 2021-22 PGA TOUR card. 

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS | Mitsubishi Electric Classic

Monday qualifier Dicky Pride rolled his Titleist Pro V1x golf ball in for six birdies over an 11-hole stretch in a closing 5-under 67 that earned him a three-shot victory and his first win on the PGA TOUR Champions.

• With the win, Pride became the 14th open qualifier to win on the PGA TOUR Champions.
• He is now the 18th player to win at least once on the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.

CHINA TOUR | Nanshan Open

Wocheng Ye claimed his second China Tour title in three events, trusting his NEW Pro V1x golf ball to a closing 3-under 68 and four-shot victory.

• All three events played this season on the China Tour have been won by NEW Pro V1x players.
• Titleist Brand Ambassador Shun Yat Hak (NEW Pro V1 golf ball; TSi3 9.0° driver; TSi3 13.5° fairway; TSi3 18.0° hybrid; T100 4-9 irons; Vokey Design SM8 46°, 54°, 60° wedges; Scotty Cameron Newport 1.5 009m putter) finished solo second after a final-round 2-under 69.
