The #1 Ball at the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

This week the finest women amateur golfers in the world have assembled in Springfield, Pennsylvania to compete in the most prestigious tournament in women's amateur golf, the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

This marks the second major championship hosted by Rolling Green Golf Club, which also hosted the 1976 U.S. Women's Open.

William S. Flynn designed the classic, parkland-style course that will measure 6,177 yards in length and play to a par-71.

Flynn designed several championship layouts in the U.S. including The Country Club in Brookline, MA, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, CO and Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, PA..

As this elite amateur field of 156 players look to raise the Cox Cup this year, 132 players are trusting Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls for their success. That’s eighteen times the nearest competitor with 7 and more than five times all competitors combined.

Titleist also topped the irons category (40). Vokey Design wedges were the top choice in the sand, lob and approach wedge (223) category and Titleist Scotty Cameron putters topped the putter (59) category.

FUN FACT: The first U.S. Women's Open was held in 1895 at the Meadow Brook Club in Hempstead, NY. Thirteen ladies played 18 holes of stroke play, with Mrs. Charles S. Brown winning the inaugural event. The following year, the U.S. Women's Amateur became a match play tournament and has remained so ever since.
