Our next question comes from Jerry in Carmichael, CA...

Q: A friend told me I was not good enough to play a Titleist Pro V1. He said they were only for pros. What's your opinion?

A: We hear this out on the road a bit as well, and we always remind players that the Pro V1 and Pro V1x are designed to perform for all golfers of all abilities. They work for golfers of all different abilities and handicaps, all different genders, all different swing speeds, so regardless of your skill level, Pro V1 and Pro V1x provide total performance.

I am so with Mike Rich on this...also, in my opinion, Pro V1(x) are the superior ball out there for many years and today (as we all know here). Not only the faster swing speed and better players benefits. Many different shots from weekend players, amateurs, and pros are not always playing full swings or in high speed, but the ball just does what's asked of it with consistency and performance in each level we're in. It's what we want from a ball. So, yes, Pro V1(x) should be our choice for that reason.

The key for the prov1 is that many casual golfers do not know the benefits of the balls.  Many I have played with same the same until you truly explain where the ball can help there specific game.

I hit the ball with a very high SS and am very conscious on trajectory and spin control with all my clubs as well as around the green so the benefits are very obvious to me

Even for.the high handicapper the pro v1 line allows them to attempt and practice shots that you simply cannot do with a lower quality ball. I would rather see a beginner play the game learning how to have chips.check up and how to fly the ball into greens and truly learn control

So I fully support all levels at least trying these balls as long term it teaches you to play golf in a manner that will enhance your enjoyment and excellerate improvement in your game

I agree with Mike R.  I am a high handicapper (24), and I can tell the difference between a good ball (pro v1) and a two piece top flight.  You need a quality ball to learn how to control your landings.  If the yardage says 169, I want the ball to go and stop at 169 (if I hit correctly).  A distance low quality ball will not give you true yardage like a quality ball.  Finding a quality ball will let you dial in your game....  Hitting a clean shot is not the balls fault, but when I hit well, good balls make a difference.

I am 69 years old. 6 Hdcp at 6100 yds. I understand technology. I was taught YEARS ago to find a ball you like, play that ball and let the ball help your game. For a long time I played the DT. Did not have the swing speed for Tour Balatas or Professionals. Along comes ProV. Whole new ballgame. I drive the ball consistently 225-230. Hit many different ones and distance is marginal, feel and control are, well, different. Off the irons I want feel, true flight and stop/drop reaction. Off the wedges I want spin and control. NO OTHER ball has made me as happy as Pro VI. Yes, they are expensive but no more than drivers, irons etc. Right ball,  the clubs will do the trick. ANYONE can see the difference and anyone can enjoy this ball.

The Titleist Ball Fitting Team came to our club in Little Rock and just a great group of guys. My story is exactly as Richard T's and the Pro V1x is my ball of choice. The ball fitting team assessed my needs and concurred that the Pro V1x was right for me. Thanks Titleist.

I have posted on this before on this so I'll say again. Anyone who has not gone to a Titleist ball fitting, please do yourself a favor and go . It made a believer out of me. Check out the distance , feel, control and durability. You don't have to be a pro or a single digit handicap to appreciate the PRO V1. And look out for the 4 doz for the price of 3 promotions. In most places it drives the cost of the ball down to well under 40 bucks a dozen.

i am a 7.1 handicap i have tried every ball on the market. some may spin more than the Pro V1 but none come anywhere close to the distance except the hex balls but if those hit a grain of sand they were ruined they were so brittle. so i would say Titleist Pro V1 balls are the best out there for anyone.

  10. NOT GOOD ENOUGH???lol...:op

I did the Titleist ball fitting, was a GREAT experience.

the data gained was great, spin rates, dispersion, etc.

the results, the numbers don't lie, tons of data to make better decision.

what is the 1 thing we hit on every golf shot? the ball. why SHOP AT WALMART FOR $9/dozen junk golf balls that do not improve your game.

the titelist fitter put me with Pro V1....great ball.......great results, back spin,9,900 rpm...7 iron...197 yards.YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used some form of the ProV1 (whatever it used to be called - Pro?)since the 70's. Now I'm 71 and need to find a ball that suits my swing speed with my driver (91mph) and six iron (

Pro V 1 offers more consistent ball flight and 1 bounce stop, that's why I use it.

Even a high handicapper hits a couple of great shots around. So my feeling is don't you want those shots to be the best possible they can be? If a player hits a great shot into a green its should stay on the green and not go bounding away.

Finally, yes some consider the price of Titleist balls pricey, but it is the one piece of equipment you use on every shot. It is also the cheapest thing one purchases next to tees to play this game.
