    I know its been asked a million times but here is a million and one. There are no scheduled ball fittings near me for the near future. I'm an old dude and been playing for 2 years. I've upgraded all my clubs to AP2s/ Vokey wedges/816 hybrids/ - an all Titleist set of clubs. I'm even making good progress in lowering my handicap index. Going nuts on what I want for a ball.

    I swing fairly slowly (71 years old) and still working on hitting the ball before I hit the earth.

    Love Titleist (ergo the switch to all Titleist clubs) so I know one of the varieties of Titleist balls will work for me. I still lose balls - although not as often as I used to.

    Any hints or ideas?

    I have played Titleist exclusively for 20+ years. I am finally a recent convert to the Pro V1; although I have to admit I got some "refurbished" Pro V1s as a gift from my daughters (they got me a couple of dozen for a fraction of the cost). I haven't been able to tell any difference.

    I had always played the Titleist DT's since I can remember (back in the old wound ball days). I have played the new DT Trusoft's and truthfully like those about as well as the Pro V1s (I don't put a lot of spin on the ball on approach shots). I have also tried the DT's in the yellow as my eyesight is not as good as it used to be and the yellow is so easy to see.

    I didn't care for the NXT's as much, but many do play them as well. Just my .02 worth! Good luck!

    If you play more than a couple of times a month (something everyone retired should do) and you are serious about lowering your handicap, start with the Pro-V1. If yellow works better than white, then DT TruSoft or NXT-Tour-S. Between those 3 (5 if you count white/yellow for DT and NXT-Tour-S) the DT TruSoft is the easiest on the pocketbook, but you'll need to consider how well you can control shots around the greens. As a youngster (67) I don't get the ball to spin back, but I hold greens best with a Pro-V.

    This has been probably been said more then once but buy a sleeve of each ball,tru. soft,nxt,nxt s. velocity, prov1 and prov1x.
    Go to a pratice green and see how each ball feels,keep notes ,as to which balls you like when putting.
    Move to a chipping green and play the balls with chips and pitches,keep notes on which balls you like.
    Now if you can get a pratice round in hit some shots from 50 yards,100 yards, see how the balls react keep notes on which .one feels the best to you.
    Then move to longer approach shots,and then the tee box.keep notes on how the flight is and how the ball feels to you..
    I like to go out when it's twlight and not crowded on the course and instead of playing around of golf just practice,approach shots,bunkers and Chips Shots
    Beats hitting balls at the range.
    GOOD LUCK IN FINDING YOUR PEREFERED BALL.
    BUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU PICK,YOU BE PLAYING THE #1 BALL IN GOLF

    There is a ball fitting guide in the top menu. Works pretty well to get you started on the correct ball.
