I did something dramatic on August 6. After several average rounds putting, I traded my Newport 2 Cameron and Crown putter for a new Phantom X 5.5. It was probably not the equipment, but rather the guy holding it. However, confidence is a hugh factor in putting so I made the jump.
3 weeks later, I can say it was a very good move. I just won my 4th Match play Club Championship at Foxwood, shooting 2 over 72 this afternoon with 27 putts. To be truthful, I thought I could make everything today. I had to give my opponent 10 shots and twice I made birdie just to half the hole. I have not sat down and figured out the length of putts made today, but it will be well north of 100 ft. There were at least 3 in which I needed to knock down 10 ft plus, and there was never any doubt once it left the putter head. Once you have the speed of the greens at a course, it is a great feeling knowing you can make them from anywhere. Thank you Scotty.
I never thought I would switch to mallet, but now that I have, there is no going back.
