I am a member of GolfNorth in the Kitchener area. It is a multicourse membership, and I can play 27 courses. The course I play, Rebel Creek is near the top of the pyramid, and the price this year increased from $2695 to $3295. I play 150 rounds a year, so my cost just went up $4 a round. Several of the members are considering dropping down to the next level, for $1000 less. The problem with that is those courses are inferior to Rebel Creek. At this time of year, Rebel Creek is still in great condition, and you are still playing golf, not just walking around in the mud trying to hit a ball. They same cannot be said for the other courses. They don't drain as well and it feels like you are playing in quick sand.
Hence, I am going to pay the extra to continue to play an excellent course. My rationale is that you only have so many days in your life to play golf so you should try and play the best course possible every time.
My question to the group is: Have other courses increased their rates by 22% as well?
