My current driver is a Burner Superfast 2.0 TP 8.5 degree with a stiff Matrix HD6 shaft and my numbers with it are below:

    Ball Speed:  166

    Launch: 10*

    Spin: 2500

    Carry: 290 yds

I wanted opinions from the experts at Team Titleist regarding the numbers and thoughts on which driver/shaft/loft combination I should try with a Titleist driver.  I have always played TM drivers and it is the only club in my bag that is not Titleist, but I have also been happy with how TM drivers have performed for me.  Maybe I should just be satisfied with what I have but I am curious to hear what the fitters on here think.

Thanks in advance for your input!

    Tim,

Taking a look at your numbers, I would first look at trying to get the launch angle higher.  Keep in mind, certain components to get the launch angle higher will have an effect on the spin, causing it to possibly go up.  There are a handful of shafts and 910 settings that I could recommend, but without working directly with you where I can see your ball flight, it could be difficult to narrow it down to a few shafts/settings that would get you your optimal ball flight. I'm not sure where you were previously fit, but we do have some Fitting Centers near you.  Below are a list of a few of them.  One is an Advanced Fitting Center, but is a little farther than the others.  There at that location, they will have more knowledgeable fitters and more shaft options.

Cameron, I was fit at the advanced fitting center at Riverside Golf Resort and we did the full bag but did not spend much time on my driver after I hit a few shots and had the numbers above.  I honestly needed more focus on my wedges, fairway woods, and hybrids to get my distances gapped and dialed in correctly with the AP2 irons that I was fit with.

I like the look to be slightly open at address so I get the confidence that I can go after it and not snap hook it with my driver.  My current ball flight is left to right or straight, with my typical misses being snap hooks when I am trying to draw the ball or due to poor tempo.  My problem with past drivers has been a ball flight that was too high and would ballon on me, which I do not have with my current TM BSF 2.0 TP.

If my other numbers above look good with the exception of launch is it as easy as just going to 9.5 lofted driver vs.the 8.5 loft that I currently have?

I would also be interested in your handful of recommendations for shaft and driver settings for the 910 driver as a starting point.

    Thanks for your advice!

    Tim,

Just going to a higher loft will help your launch angel, but will increase your spin as well.  That's why the 910 is beneficial for the fact that you can play around with higher lofted drivers set to lower lofted settings, or lower lofted drivers set to higher lofted settings.  I would recommend starting with your current loft/setting and work from there.  Try taking the 8.5* and increase the loft setting, to see how it effects launch/spin.  Also, consider which model you are using (910D2 or 910D3).  Know that the 910D3 will help to reduce launch/spin, so maybe try that in a 9.5* and adjust from there.  These are all starting points for finding the optimal driver for you, because you will still want to calculate in what shaft will help achieve your perfect ball flight.

For a starting point on what shaft you should try, consider our stock Titleist Kai'li (whatever flex you are currently playing).  There is a chance it may help increase your launch, and there is a chance it may spin too much, but it is middle of the road when looking at our stock options.

Bryan Haas is an excellent Fitter at Riverside.  He knows these 910 metal woods inside and out, so if you get a chance, I would recommend setting something up with him.  Let me know if you need any help setting anything up, but for now I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help Cameron.  I will get something set up this spring when the weather breaks here in the midwest.
