So as the subject mentions. I wanted to hear some opinions. I went to a Titleist premier fitting partner (they also have all other types of brands) and got fit for irons. I am currently a 12 handicap shooting in the high 80s and low 90s sometimes and play once a week and practice once a week. I have been playing some cally steelhead XRs for about 3 years now but since these are game improvement irons and never got fit for them, I decided to spend some more money and actually buy a set of clubs that would be fitted for me.
I tried all types of different shafts and heads from the P790 the P770, Srixons, cally apex, T150 and T200. At the end of the day the fitter recommended me to stick with the T150 w/ an extra stiff shaft 120 gram dynamic gold. I was very surprised with this because from what I have read, these irons are for single digit handicap. However, the number look great (TRACKMAN). Fairly consistent at 170 yards with a 7 iron. Height was at 110 average, spin rate a around 6,000 rpm. And the dispersion was very tight.
What are y’alls opinions in regards to a low mid handicap using such Irons?
