    Hello Team Titleist,

My question is about the swing weight of shafts. My current driver is the GT3 with a ventus blue velocore + in a 6x. I’m looking to add the gt280 to the bag. Should I go with the 7x which is what’s in my 3 and 5 wood. Or do I stick with 6x for the mini driver?

Swing weight is a parameter you can specify. While the weight of the shaft may impact swing weight, you are looking at how the club feels and reacts to your swing. At the price of a new club, you should get fit with your optimal combination. Buying a second Ventus shaft to correct the wrong guess the first time is a much larger expense than a fitting.

I go to a fitter for the purpose of getting the right set up. This year I FINALLY succumbed to getting regular shafts in my driver/fairways/hybrids. My fitter (who is Titleist certified, as well as certified with all the major brands) and a long time fried handed me the club that I should be hitting this year and said hit the dang thing. I did, it was perfect and I bought it. D2, Tensei IK Blue 55 R. Not what I expected, but always trust David Ayres. David knows my swing and numbers better than I do. Also went with the D2 15* Fairway, same shaft 65R. Had been playing TSR1 Fairway 18* and TSR1 hybrid 21*, He ordered the same shafts for the TSRs, 65R for the fairway and 75R for the hybrid. Really made a big difference. Much easier to swing and control. Thanks to David, am scoring better from the fairways. Also have been working with my PGA instructor on short game. Point, agree with Don, go see a fitter.

Did take a bit to get use to the new shafts, but worth the effort. Like everything in life, you get out of it what you put in it. Fitter and instruction. Good combination.

Take the 7x from your 3 wood, stick it in the mini driver, and find out how it plays. It's a direct swap.
  5. Go get fitted
