This is going to sound like an odd suggestion but one innovation you might consider is to not just stamp the logo and number on the ball wherever but line it up so that the number is aligned so that you can mark two dimples on either side or just below on either side.  It's a small thing but really bugs me when I'm marking the two dots and they are off center from the number.
