Thanks for the post. My suggestion would be to head out to the course with a sleeve of Pro V1x and a sleeve of NXT Tour S and conduct an on-course evaluation. This really is the best way to zero-in on the best ball for your game.

If you're able to play a casual round when the course isn't busy and hit multiple shots from the same spot with the different golf balls it's a great way to evaluate performance. Another option would be to play 9-holes with the Pro V1x and 9-holes with the NXT Tour S, then compare the overall performance results.

I would also recommend taking a close look at short game performance and which ball is going to ultimately lower your score. Most game changing differences and score changing differences are found near the greens and on approach shots into the green. 

At the end of the day, it's all about finding the right golf ball that is going to help you shoot lower scores. Here is a link to our on-course evaluation scorecard. It's a great tool to use during your session.

Thank you for telling me to test it out. I will have to wait because it is winter and I live in PA so its very cold up here. I will try the NXT Tour S and the ProV1x and if I do like the ProV1x better should I wait for the new ProV1x balls to come out for 2013 or should I stick with the 2011 ProV1x golf balls? I guess I would have to see. I would recommend though that you make a ProV1x yellow golf ball because I have been hearing in the bogs about yellow golf balls are very easy to see when hit like the NXT Tour S. If you could answer my question if I prefer the ProV1x over the NXT Tour S then should I wait for the new ProV1x golf balls that are due for 2013 or should I stick with the 2011 ones. Well you would probably tell me to test both ProV1x's out. Well thanks for your time and happy new year!

Yes, the answer is most simply stated, 'Test them both.'  However, if the previous model Pro V1x fits your game best, my guess would be that the new model Pro V1x would be your preference.  Think about it this way, as time goes on, Titelist does more R&D on how to make a better Pro V1, they also do the same study of the Pro V1x.  It's not like every model is a completely different ball and Titleist slaps the Pro V1 logo on it.  They make improvements to the previous version, not a complete makeover.  

Based just on your post I'd say NXT would fit you perfectly.

As I said you can still get NXT at walmart, no Velocity is not the NXT, NXT Tour and Tour S are not NXT.

I tried the black numbered Test balls.....and compared them to a ProV1 and ProV1X.....the Test was further yet softer on the green.

I also got a dozen NXT Tour S Yellow at Christmas.....I like them

Jim Beam Black label had Christmas bottles with 3 Velocity balls (Jim Beam Black logo)...They went further than the NXT Tour S.

Now I have a mixture and use them interchangeably right now...I will have to decide which one when I run out as I usually do not lose any balls when I play my home course.....Probably will go with the NXT Tour S.

I personally recommend the Pro V1x because of the same reasons you were looking for. I would also wait (they're out now) for the new Pro V1x's for the simple reason that I was hitting them about 10 yards further then average on my drives.

i say wait for the new prov1x the new balls are firmer with better spin.

Best thing you can do is test both types to see how they compare- I have a dozen pro vs and a dozen call away hex blacks waiting in my bag that I am going to take a few hacks with to compare as soon as it warms up!

this may sound crazy but i am going play tuesday by myself i plan to use 2 balls like i am playing for 2 for first 9 just see which i get better score

recently i tried the NXT tour balls and they were perfect for my game. i have have played numerous rounds with them exclusively and they have really reduced(almost eliminated) my slicing. good luck
