2013 Pro V1 vs Pro V1x

    I am currently playing the Pro V1x. My driver SS is 125-128. My irons I'd say are mid/high flight. Driver flight is mid to mid high, which I like. I feel like the Pro V1, FEELS a lot better, a lot less clicky on iron shots, and FEELS better on putts and short shots. I just messed around with one the other day on a couple shots. However like previously stated, I play the Pro V1x. Is the Pro V1 that much shorter off the tee than the Pro V1x? Are the spin rates that much higher? I absolutely love the distance with the Pro V1x, but after tee-shots with driver and 3w, I feel like the Pro V1 is a much better scoring ball. Just don't know if the Pro V1 is for my swingspeed. If hitting the fairway off the tee is no problem for me, is the Pro V1 actually the recommended ball for me over the Pro V1x? What kind of distance loss am I looking at if I switch to the Pro V1? Currently, on flat terrain, no wind, my driver carry distance with the 2013 Pro V1x is around 325, roll it to 345 or so, mid to mid high flight, 5-8 yard draw. Any thoughts would be appreciated.     Hi Joe,

    One thing to keep in mind is that all Titleist golf balls are long and that the distance difference between all models is only 3 to 5 yards. 

    In terms of whether or not you are playing the best Titleist for your game, sounds you like you are on the right track with testing a few models. On course performance is the best place to determine which golf ball will help you shoot lower scores. At the end of the day, it comes down to the ball that helps you score your best and meets all of your performance criteria.

    As for the swing speed question - ball fitting for a certain swing speed is definitely a myth. When you're out on a golf course you are playing a wide variety of golf shots during the round. Since a golf ball only reacts to the force being applied, different shots require different swing speeds in order to execute them properly. A golf ball must perform for all golfers of all swing speeds on all shots, otherwise it won't perform for any golfer.

    That all makes good sense. And to that point, I really feel like the Pro V1 is the better 'scoring' ball for me. I feel like the iron distances and flight was much more consistent, and the feel off the putter and wedges were more true--what I put in is what I get out, in fact that feels the same way for all the shots with the ProV1 over the ProV1x. I guess its a matter of do I want to sacrifice a couple yards and lose the ego of hitting the ball as far a possible, so I can score a little better and be more confident with shot execution. Guess its time to swallow my pride... Thank you for the input, I do appreciate the info.

    Hey Joe,

    With regards to the Pro V1 vs. the Pro V1x, is really does not make a difference which one you pick. I personally play an x just because it is a little longer off the tee. Adam Scott plays a Pro V1 and he seems to do alright. Take care

    Right. Yeah I figure Adam Scott has got to be 118 mph or so with the driver and he plays the Pro V1, and I was reading that Fowler just switched to the Pro V1 over the X because it actually gave him a more forward flight and more distance, than the X since he already hits it so high off the tee. The Pro V1x is a long premium golf ball no doubt, but I feel the Pro V1 is a better scoring ball, better feedback for me. And scoring lower is all that really matters I guess. I am going to go on a Pro V1 kick for a while and see how it pans out. I am actually thinking/believing I will shoot lower with it. Only one way to find out. Thanks

    I decided to go back to playing blades in 2014, during an iron fitting I found out that my spin numbers was a little low on my irons. I decided to switch this year from the Pro V1x back to the Pro V1. I also liked the Pro V1 softer feel better with my forged irons. I'm really hoping the slightly lower launch with more spin will get my iron performance maximized.
