This might not be the best topic and Im sure it has been covered in here at some point and time, but it is amazing how different balls make the difference in a game.  I guess my ultimate question is, are there other balls out there that play like the ProV1 that are cheaper? Its more out of curiousity than anything....Just looking for some inputs....

Without any knowledge of your game, you can look at NXT Tour S, possibly even DT Solo.  Some have referred to NXT Tour/NXT Tour-S as the non-urethane Pro-V1x/Pro-V1 counterparts.  I'm still working on generating more spin with short irons but otherwise find the Tour and 1x comparable for distance, feel, and control.  I've given up on sorting through other brands.  Lines come and go and get yearly updates - too much to sift through.  I like the characteristics of the two I mentioned, so I would rather focus on what it was that I did and not worry was it me or the ball?

I play the NXT Tour and find that it's a great ball for distance and feel, but doesn't seem to stop all that well on firm greens. They react very well on soft greens though, and they are considerably less expensive than the Pro V line. I do want to play a Pro V ball at some point on the firm greens that I play in my league to see how much of a difference they would make, if any... just haven't taken the financial plunge yet. I'm sure  I will at some point in the near future because the suspense is killing me. But I would always recommend the NXT's to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, quality golf ball.

I'll second what others are saying.  I really like the NXT line and I think it's a great second (and cheaper) option to the Pro V1 line.  Hard to say for sure, but I would but you wouldn't have compromise much if you're looking to make it a financial decision.

Same here.  The NXT Tour is very similar to the Pro V1x (I play both) except that I find that the NXT doesn't stop as well on greens.  Also, they feel a little different off the putter face, in my opinion but both roll true.

I prefer the Pro V1x, but like the others, financially I often opt for the NXT.  If you're lucky, you can still find a few new prior generation Pro Vs out there and I pick those up since the price point is about the same.

I will try the NXT's on my next purchase, Im not a great player I hit in the 90's, Im a weekend warrior, but setting myself up for retirement, so Im trying to learn to be a little better! Thank you for all the inputs, it is much appriciated!!!
