WJ, I did not receive the latest test balls but have a couple of times in the past and asked the same question. The short answer is Titleist will not tell you what kind of ball it is and there is no way you can guess what series it is. All Titleist balls that are on the market currently will fly within 5 or 6 yards of one another. The difference is spin rate, feel and durability. The test balls could be a prototype of the current Titleist line up or a completely new series all together. we will never know.
Just to add to what Carl said, the balls you tested may not even make it to stores. That's why they call them "test" balls.
I have been a member here at TT since the beginning, and I can backup what Carl said. Titleist has Never revealed which test balls are which.

I have the opportunity to test both red and black numbered test balls. The balls are amazing! Definitely longer distance off the tee and throughout the bag, spin enhancement, great greenside control - Drops & Stop, amazing feel. I preferred the black number as I play the Pro V1.
If you look and compare the dimple patterns for the test balls, you could deduce that the dimple pattern is for the Pro V1 or Pro V1x. Word on the street is the test balls are the next Pro V1 and Pro V1x... : D Just saying. : P

Great photo right there. Very cool, thanks for sharing.
I'm still hoping I haven't missed out on any test balls. Mine came late two years ago, so I'm hopeful.

I also felt the test ball flew farther and had less spin on missed shots!! Hope it's released soon!!

Just recieved the new test Pro V1 X test ball. a couple weeks back. The distance off the tee was similar but I noticed much greater control out of the bunkers. Paricularly for big greens. Almost holed out a 25 yd bunker shot with the new test Pro V1 X. The spin is considerably more controllable for up and downs too. Excellent . Best, Steve

I would love to try a sleeve of the test balls. While yes I am a high handicapper, I can still tell the difference when I play the Pro VIx versus other balls. Since I started working with a Golf Instructor sponsored by Titleist for the last year, it has sure started to make a differene in my game. I fully expect by spring next year my handicap will be down in the mid to upper teens.
