I tried a dozen DT TruSofts last winter and was impressed with how they performed in the cold temps ( 45F - 35F). Not a lot of stopping power on the greens though, since they were usually frozen or close to frozen.

No, I play the same ball all year round...

I will switch out to the Titleist NXT Tour S -- soft feeling off the club in the colder months and still has a soft enough cover to get some stopping power on the greens. I normally play the Pro V1x ball for the remainder of the season - year.

I also normally play Prov1X but like to play NXT's in the Winter. Don't know if it's true, but someone once told me ProV's don't compress as much in the Winter thus reducing their ability to spin.

Mostly, I play NXT's during the winter months because they come in bright yellow which is helpful here in Texas when the grass is dormant. Much easier to see.

Hi Ben, ... you mentioned one of the big benefits of the NXT Tour S balls ... they come in bright yellow! I completely agree with you!

Nothing like a bright yellow ball against a grey sky and darker fairway! Plus, if I happen to lose it in the "mud" ... the sting of losing the ball is less than the Pro V series! :-)

I certainly won't play any new balls in the winter. I will usually rotate between my old ProV's and NXT Tours that I have stashed away. I'm more trying to limit the costs in the offseason - no need to purchase new balls until the spring.

When it's colder out I switch from the Prov1 to the NXT Tour!

I play the same ball the year round, Prov1. I did try a dozen of the DT Trusoft last winter, out of curiosity, and that is a nice winter ball. Might give it a try, if you are into play two different balls and you might find that you might end up using that ball the year round. It is a good golf ball.

Same ball but I prefer the softer ball. If I spend the money then I will usually play ProV1 if I'm stingy then I play the nxt tour s so I use those two year round

I play whatever old ball that I have found during the summer. Safe to say that search time down to a seconds.

I used to. Last year I went to the DT Trusoft and have never looked back.

In the colder days 40-50 degrees here on Long Island I switched to the Tru-Soft as it had a softer feel.

This is a great topic that seems to come up every year for us on the discussion boards. I wanted to share an article we put out last January from our golf ball R&D team on temperature and golf ball performance.

"We recommend playing with room temperature golf balls, and storing your golf balls indoors at room temperature throughout the year. Avoid leaving your golf balls in extremely cold or hot conditions, i.e., in the trunk of your car during the winter or summer. If your golf balls are exposed to these conditions, as long as you let them return to a normal temperature gradually, they will perform the same.

If you’re playing in extremely cold conditions, it’s also a good idea to rotate a couple golf balls hole-by-hole, keeping the idle one in a warm pocket in your jacket or pants."

I play the same ball, ProV1, year round. The adjustments that I make are club selection and type of shots played. It may be difficult or hard to accept, but you generally need to club up at least by one and sometimes two due to outside temperature and swing flexibility.
