Someone told me that the higher numbered balls (5,6,7,8) are a lower compression ball suitable for winter play. I had my doubts but wanted to check to see.

    Hi Pit -

The higher numbers are simply for identification of your golf ball on the golf course. Thanks for the question!

I like the high numbers because most other folks do not use them so easy for me to identify. They play the same as the other balls. Find them harder to get, but my pro cooperative in swapping out with me, when I get a dozen as a gift of the lower numbered balls. DT Trusoft is a good winter ball if that is what you are looking for. I normally play Prov1s, for regular and tournament play, but in the winter will throw a sleeve or two in my bag.

That's what I thought. This was told to me by a salesman at a Dicks Sporting Goods.
    Thank you!

WOW! Maybe they should've thought twice before laying off all their PGA professionals... They'll be losing customers with answers like that....

I'd heard the same rumor a while back, but didn't put any stock in it either. Thanks for the follow up, Abby.
