I made the switch. I used to be a V player until a couple of years ago when I switched to the X as I felt it gave me a bit more distance. However I did think they felt a bit harder off the face on short shots.
Having tried the new V I felt I retained the distance with the longer clubs and got back the slightly softer feel with the shorter shots.

James H, I appreciate your comments. I was wondering about that same issue. I play and love the old generation X's for distance and less spin on full wedges, but sacrificed that softer feel of the V1's off the putter face. But the new generation balls state less spin on short irons for the new V1 than the new X, but still the V1 is softer. I loved the softer feel for putting and chipping around the greens with the old V1, but didn't want to sacrifice the distance the X gave me. Love to try the new V1's and compare them to the old X's.

I was lucky enough to test the new ProV1X prototype. Little softer feel than the older ProV1X with great control and distance. I'd try a sleeve of the new ProV1X.

Still have 2 dozen of last generation ProV1's to use before I make the switch but I will start using the new ProV1's as soon as can

In part because of the lower descent, I kept finding the Pro-V ball further up the fairway so the distance worked and I really appreciated the softness when working around the green. I've been using the X because I'm not long and couldn't sacrifice the distance. So for me, I'm moving from the '15 X to the 17 V.

Can't wait to try the new Pro V1 and the V1x. I'll try both then make my decision on which to order. Generally I play the X, but there's been so much talk about how Titleist has changed each, better try both.

For those of you who have actually compared the 2017 versions, how much of a difference in the trajectories of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x is there? Does the Pro V1x launch much higher than the Pro V1, even if contact is a little higher/lower on the clubface?

I have been playing the V1 since 2002 and as always I am excited to try the new 2017 model, however, I need to get through the remainder of winter (sigh) before I have the opportunity! The V1 has always been a solid performer for me as I like the softer feel off the putter.
The new 2017 V1 just excites me. It appears to maintain the soft feel but, has the bonus of potential lower spin and longer distance off of the tee. A win/win combo IMHO.

So I tried both this weekend. Front nine was the X and back nine was the V1. My normal ball is the 2015 X. My driver SS is 95-102. My 7 iron is (this time of year) a 155 yard club.

I found the V1 to be slightly (7 yards or so) longer but slightly lower than the X. I hit a fairly high ball with every club. I did like the feel of the X better off the woods and irons. The signature shot for me was a 98 yard approach I had on our 10th hole. I hit a full 56 degree wedge that hit and jumped back to right at three feet. It felt softer coming off---and grabbed the green like a champ.

If I had made the putt (or any putts on the back) it would have been a quick decision..but that's not the balls fault.
