My season has ended up here in the North and I need some feedback. I loved the 2015 V1X and played it as my only ball. I am a 4.2 index and my driver swing speed is 97-99 mph.

The new 2017 V1X didn't feel the same to me. But I'm also a low ball player. Can I get away with playing the 2017 V1 instead or will it hurt me being a low ball hitter? I did a Titleist driver fitting and based on my numbers, I was told I was definitely an V1X candidate, but...

  2. John,

Sorry to hear your season is over. I would recommend trying them both out and see which you like more.

John, here's a summary article that we published on the blog that should help you to get a feel for the differences between Pro V1 and Pro V1x:

I've been happy with my switch to Pro V1 this season, but I couldn't agree with Jack more. You really have to compare them side by side to see which model best suits your particular game and preferences. Good luck.

  5. John, test them both, side by side next season. Proof will be apparent after a few rounds. Love the process and have fun.
  6. I love the 2015 and 2016 V1X too (I still have few left) and am also a low ball hitter.

But I also often play the V as well and like it for different reasons. Ball flight is not as high but feel is a little softer.

Slightly different but I like them both and play them both.
  7. John I'm in the same boat as you. Low single digit handicap and low ball hitter. Driver swing speed 113-115mph yada yada.
I did try both balls this spring and definitely noticed v1x was higher ball flight but spun to much with wedges and short irons. The pro v1 was slightly lower in flight but that's what I like to see and feel I can control better. There's not big differences between them. Just enough to make you choose one or the other. The prov1 isn't hard to get height when you want to either.

Like others have mentioned get a sleeve of each and play them shot for shot. Or 3 holes with one then switch to the other. Try hitting different shots. High low. Try from bad lies. Under a tree and see if you can keep it low enough. You know hit and go hit it again.

I know how the mind can think a lot about things in the off season. Write stuff down so you'll remember to try it out in the spring.

    Have a good one!
