I have a swing speed between 101-102 mph and was recently told that swing speeds under 105 mph would not reap the benefits of a ProV1 (meaning I wouldn't get maximum distance since I wouldn't be able to fully compress the ball.) Can someone tell me if that is true or if I should be playing a different Titleist with my swing speed?

There are more benefits to a Pro V1 than just off the tee.  Playability from the fairways & around the greens are just as much a benefit of the ball than distance off the tee box.  If the ball works for you, I say stick with it.  And go try out the Titleist online ball analyzer.  It should give you some good advice.

    Well said Drew.

Just to build on that a bit more, we spoke with our golf ball fitting team and they wanted to emphasize that Titleist golf balls are not designed for any one wing speed or player type. Titleist golf balls are designed for optimal performance when exectuing all of the shot types that are played during a normal round of golf. This includes full swing shots, partial swing shots, chips and putts.  And as you know, all of these different shots require varying swing speeds.

You should definitely visit our ball fitting section to learn more about our fitting methodology and also go through the online golf ball selection tool. It will provide you with a recommended and alternative golf ball option, and from there we suggest testing those two options out on the course to see which ball is best for your game.

Thanks to Drew and TT for posting those replies. But, I have a question. I have played the ProV1 for a few years now and have been seriously thinking about switching to the V1X. My mid to high irons and all my wedges are getting the playability and spin I want off the ProV1 however, I feel like I could be getting the same playability and spin from the X and MORE accuracy, possibly yards, off the tee. My swing speeds with the driver are between 110-118 (range I know but slower swing speeds for more accuracy on tight fairways)... any suggestions? I did the iteractive ball fitting you can download and it's saying ProV1 but when I read the description of the X, just seems to fit what I am looking for I guess.... hmmm

Thanks TT. I guess I was wondering if the NXT Tour offered any advantage off the tee with my swing speed (as it pertains to compression, distance etc.). I can honestly tell you I love the feel of the ProV1 and ProV1X off the club face and if I were to have to hit several balls without knowing which ones they are I could pick out the Titleist without a problem!

I used to believe this too.  But using a ProV`x works for me even though I do not have a high swing speed.  I think my swing speed is low 90.  But it does feel good off the tee and I love how it spins on the green.  That is how I score and beat long ball hitters.  By chipping and putting.  That is my game.
