I’ve been playing ProV1x for the longest time because of its straighter flight and less driver and long iron spin. However, over the last couple years it seems those balls have swapped roles. Am I correct in this or am I missing something?

Yes, sort of... The ProV1x still advertises low spin on log shots but the ProV1 now has lower spin and lower trajectory. Higher overall ball flight for ProV1x. Use the on-line ball selector under Golf Ball Fitting here on the website to get an idea of which attributes are most important to you. For me, the feel of the ProV1, ProV1x, and AVX off the clubface keeps me in the ProV1. All three are great balls.

The X has a higher flight with a little more spin around the green. The V used to have a distance penalty but the lower landing angle of the lower flighted V has erased that difference Be it X, V . Or AVX, whatever suites your eye, feel, and green response go with it.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I need to just buy a couple sleeves and try them out.

I noticed the same thing. I used to play the ProV1x but it seemed to spin more off the driver so I went to the Prov1 and it plays better for me. I also like softer feel so it is a win-win. Plus, the ProV1 has gotten longer in the past few years so can't go wrong if you ask me.

If you buy a couple sleeves as you said you can test them out and see what you think, an on course test is the best way to know how they perform for you.
  7. Agreed! Best to try them out. Only putting the different balls through their paces will answer which ball is best for your game.
  8. I have played the X and V1 over the years going back and forth depending on the characteristics of the balls. However, one thing is constant, the X launches higher and in many cases to the green I see more spin with the X as well.

I played the ProV1 the last two balls however this new generation ball I have decided to switch back to the X.
  9. Has anyone compared the TP5 and TP5x to the proV1 and proV1x?
