  1. Wanting to test and stick with one golf ball as I have been trying a few different balls lately. Tried the Pro V1 and Pro V1x Yellow. Pro V1 felt the best on iron shots and putting, giving me the confidence that I would like. My dilemma is the Pro V1x went longer and straighter on all drives and held fairways. The Pro V1 seemed to spin more and would tend go of line more on my drives that tend to fade. Some ending off the fairway.

On one par 3 ( I hit two of each ball )Pro V1 hit the green and the Pro V1x went right of the green. Might be pilot error but I played the hole twice same result.

Love driving long and staying on the fairway but the scoring is done with irons and putting.

Any ideas or no such thing as a perfect ball.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Titleist Short Game Experience with Bob Vokey at Pinehurst back in April. Along with wedge fitting, they had a ball fitting set up for each of us. We hit drivers and short irons on the range with each ball and used the TrackMan to validate the results. I have a pretty slow swing speed and have been using ProV1 for years because i love the soft feel. The TrackMan results validated the fact that i needed to be in the ProV1x. Much higher and longer flight which i need and more spin on the short shots, which i also need. Don't make up your mind based on one outing unless you have the launch monitor data to validate what you think is happening. I now have switched, even though its taking a while to adjust to the different feel on chips and putts.

The results of my fitting are that I use the ProV1x. Sometimes I stray and use other balls, trying them out. But the ProV1x is really the best ball for me. I just love the feel of it! I really do. Then I hit the green and the ball checks up nicely. Feels wonderful when putting, which makes me more confident and then I don't leave it short. My putts drop. All my shots have the wonderful feel that only a ProV1x can give me. I am sold!
  4. I dont understand. Pro v1x is a firmer ball and firmer balls need a higher swing speed to fully compress giving maximum results. So how could trackman validate you using a prov1x?

Get ball fit.... Seems you're on the right path with hitting them both.. Work from the green backwards, how they feel with putter and wedge?

Get fit. With the equipment they bring they will have you in the right ball for your game.
  7. Thanks guys.

    Appreciate the feed back.

Will keep testing and maybe get a fitting.
  8. Definitely get fitted. I’m a ProV1 guy as I hit it pretty high so I get a better flight with the V1 and still get plenty of spin with irons & wedges. Good luck
  9. I would recommend listening to 'The Golf Podcast by Golficity' episode 273 (it's recent). It's all about ball fitting and how it works, plus they're testing Titleist balls.

It's a good podcast anyway, available on all the standard podcast apps

Ditto on get fit for the correct club and ball! I use the Pro V1.
  11. I was fit for a Pro V1x last year, but I'm still struggling with the feel on chips and putts. I've always considered myself someone who will go with the data (trackman in this case), but after a year I am still not comfortable with the feel around the green. I'm going to try a Pro V1 this weekend and compare the feel I remember and the feel I experience this weekend. Sometimes my memory is not a good judge - especially when the memory is a year old :)

What good is it to hit a ball 5 yards further and a bit higher on full shots if the feel on chips and putts causes you to have more strokes used around the greens? Go with what feels best and allows you to post the lowest scores. The data is the data but confidence is the key. For me, I am adjusting to the ProV1x so making the switch will work out okay but that's just me. Nothing wrong with playing the ball that will give you the most enjoyment. Have fun out there!
