I have a Detour Putter.  On the heel (pointing up) is an orange dot.  What is the purpose of this dot?  I have my opinion but would like to know the official reason.

    Tom,

You may be referring to the stainless steel backweight, which triangulates weight at the corners of the putter for an extremely high moment of inertia. A vibration dampening ring aroundthe backweight ensures superior sound and feel.

  3. Cameron,

I have a Scotty Cameron Detour Putter as well.  I love the putter, but this season I have been hearing a rattling down near the putter head.  It almost sounds like the weight in the head of the putter is lose.  I cant tell if it is glue in the shaft or the weight in the head.  I have spoken with a few of the golf professionals in my area and none of them know.  Is there a way to tighten the weight in the head of the putter or a way for it to come lose.  I am the original owner of the putter as I got the putter from my dad Gordon Fulp (Master Professional) in Greenville, North Carolina at Gordon's Golf and Ski. I have never done any work to the putter and neither has my dad.  I would go through him to send it back to you, but I am living in Avon, Colorado.  Please let me know if this is something I can fix on my own or whether or not I need to send in to you.

    Thanks,

    Michael Fulp

    Michael,

There is a chance that it is the weight that is loose.  If you can take it to any authorized Titleist retailer, they can have it sent back to us and we will tighten it for you.  Make sure to have the golf shop you take it to ask for an expedited Fedex call tag.  Feel free to  contact us at 1-888-TITLEIST for any further questions.

I think he may be referring to the dot top of the top line inside of the shaft near the heel.  I have both a Detour and Detour 2....I sometimes use the shaft to cover the dot at address to ensure proper alignment...not sure if this was the original intent but it works for me! Hope this helps!
