What a great breakdown. I do have my fair share of Odssey putters, some almost as pricey as my Scotty. But once I Thought it through and once I got my Newport 2 in the bag, number of putts have been dropping. The technology(like butter with butter) and the confidence certainly make me think Im better on the green. Take the plunge, buy a great putter you wont need to replace!

Elvis, i have to agree with Norris a 100% and loved how he broke it down..
In my own experience I bought 3 PNG putters ranging from 89 to 129 bucks.. They were ok and kept buying next best thing and it was a struggle to find the right putter until I met Scotty. I had the same thought, 350 bucks for a putter? Couldn't see myself doing it until i started testing them out. I bought my Studio Select Newport about 3 years ago for $250 bucks, brand new at a local golf shop.. Right place, right time and no hesitation.. I still have the same putter to this day and it's the most IMPORTANT club in my bag. One club that will never, ever get replaced.. The feel and confidence i have with this putter is unbeatable.. I'm actually sending it out today to get it personalized.. I love it that much..
I would highly recommend testing them out first to find the right one. And then go online, you never know what kind of deal you'll get online..
Bottom line and IMO, Scotty Cameron putters are well worth the investment.

Elvis,
Chris and Norris are spot on. Even if you one putt every green (wouldn't that be nice), the putter is likely the club you'll use most during any given round. And, if you find THE ONE, chances are you'll never have to replace it. I too, am on a putter search, but my choices start and end with Titleist/Scotty Cameron.

Elvis, buying a Scotty Cameron is like buying a sports car. They are finely tuned machines that meet very strict requirements. I have had my first Scotty since 2004, where everything else in my bag turns over somewhat regularly.
Something else to consider is picking up a used putter to save some money while still getting a true work of art.

In addition to that, I own 4 Scotty Cameron putters. Not one of them did I pay full retail for; not one did I pay more than $250 for. I bought each one of them mint pre-owned. They all were in next to new condition except one and that one was pretty nice too! I have a 2014 Fastback in 33" length with a SuperStroke 3.0 Ryder Cup Stars and Stripes grip (gamer), a 2012 33" Newport with a no-longer made Mid Baby T grip (this is my baby, backup, and first love), a 34" Futura X with authentic black Circle T weights, and a 2012 33" Notchback. I paid, in order, the following for them $250, $225, $225 (w/ Circle-T weights added $300), $215.
So, just be patient, keep scouring golf shops with used clubs, the internet, and your local proshops. You will eventually find a great deal on one. It will probably take you a week or two at most in my experience.

I like the way you think Shawn...picked up my Studio Select Kombi for a fraction of the regular price...she feels like and putts like a fine instrument....my Kombi's in the bag, my png is in the closet.

Well said by all. To me the club that you need with the most confience in is your putter. If it cost a little more to get that club then I am all in. I also feel that in most cases you get what you pay for. You will certianly get that with a Scotty.

Agree with all, however one caveat to the other posts - get PROPERLY fitted for the specific putter. Don't just go grab any SC on the shelf - because that could have dramatic consequences; go to a reputable fitter who will tailor the putter to your stroke/body type/setup (forward press vs. loft)/etc.

Elvis, and another way of looking at it outside of Scotty Cameron quality I feel when you have spent 300-400$ on one you spend more time practicing putting then just the other parts of your game

There are a lot of good putters out there and Scotty make his share of good ones..I have two SC, png Pal 4, an Odessy, an Acushnet Bulls Eye, and play my Newport 2 Notchback Select........but as the old saying goes; it's not the arrow, it's the indian....regardless of what you pay for your club, if it feels good in your hands and you make a good stroke with the club and the ball rolls smoothly into the hole, who cares.......

I agree with what the others are saying. The putter is the most used club in the bag, so it would make sense for it to be the most expensive. But the mentality for most golfers is to constantly change putters. That could prove to be very costly. So I would suggest trying a few out and getting fitted. Then you should be getting something that will last a long time.
On a side note, there are deals out there. If you keep your eyes open and make offers, you'd be surprised what you can get. I have two Scotty's I've paid virtually nothing for.

I agree with Norris on this 100%. I too felt the same as you do on spending 400 on a putter but over the years, I reconsidered. I, however, bought a used Scotty Cameron too see what the fuss was all about. After about 4 months of use, I started looking at new Scotty Camerons due to the used have more signs of wear than I like. I ended up sending it in to the custom shop and had it refinnished and customized. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. This putter not only looks aweome, but it added the consistancy and confidence I needed with my game. Best of luck. Brian F

I agree with everyone on here, I am on my 4th Scotty and this one I have had since 2007. Every year I try the new ones and just can't make the change. Now since the new Futura X5 has came out I will be making the change this year.

I have a few Cameron putters and there is nothing like the balance and feel of it. There is always a way around expensive things and if one takes the time you can find a used one in great shape, at a reduced price. That's what I've done and enjoy every golfing minute of owning one!!!!!

Norris, Chuck and others its all great feedback. Putt for dough, drive for show. Putting way more important but yes much less flashy than bombing a big drive. Good points by others as well that putter may last a long time as well and you may switch out the driver every 2 years since Titleist will have a great option out there for us to be tempted every 2 years.
Mitchell CCarterville, IL
I agree with everyone on here. If you spend 400 dollars on a driver every 1-2 years, then you should not even think twice about dropping 3-400 dollars on a putter. Scotty Cameron putters are a thing of beauty, with a classic timeless look, and an amazing quality and feel. Once you find a style, weight, look that works for you, you will notice the feel and start to have the confidence that is needed to shoot your best round.

Bought my last putter in 2001, Scotty Cameron Studio 1. Best money I have spent for a putter. Now had it for 13 years.
great buy, no regrets.
Matt BColumbus, OH
That is true with any club. Being properly fitted is the key. Check with your pro periodically regarding you lie and loft on the putter. Those do get out of aliegnment, even in a Scotty, because we have a tendency to lean on the putters when standing around on the greens. It will make a difference in how true the ball rolls.
