I got a full set of clubs this year AP2, 909D2, F2, and hybrid. Now that I have played a 20 or so rounds with them I thought I would leave a review.  Last irons were wilson deep red tour II's.

The AP2's are great irons. They really do bridge the gap between forged and cavity back irons. They still don't feel quite as good as the MB's but the added forgiveness is well worth it. Overall I feel that I have more shot shaping ability with these irons then I have had with most irons that are in this category. These irons give me the added forgiveness I need when my game is off but play almost as good as MB's when my game is on. I have two complaints  so far. First I can tell the difference between the new grooves and the old grooves. The ball does not drop and stop as well as it used to. I find that I have to figure in at least 5-8yards of roll after hitting a green with a 9 or PW. Second complaint is the metal. I don't know if it is the blend of tungsten and nickel or what, but the metal seems to be softer than most irons. As I mentioned earlier I have only played 20 rounds with these irons but I am noticing little indentations in the irons. So far the largest seem to be in the back of the iron and not on the club face except on my wedge. The dent on my wedge almost looks like it's from a tee, but it doesn't seem right that a wood or plastic tee would dent a metal iron?

My 909D2 driver is great. For some reason I can hit all of my irons solid but I really struggle with my driver and fairway metals. So I tend to slice these clubs. Overall I love the feel of this driver it may be the best on the market and distance is as far if not farther than anything on the market. My fairway woods and hybrids have a very similar feel and distance is great. I still am questioning the durability of these clubs. I have gotten under a couple of shots either from the rough or from the tee and I now have small chips on the top of the club where the gray color meets the metal club face.

So overall great clubs. Very playable. This iron allows mid handicappers the luxury of a forged iron with the forgiveness of a cavity back. My only concern is that they may not be as durable as some of the other brands out there.

I also have these irons, the 2008 model that is. I have hit the 710s and do notice a difference in feel. I have grown acustomed to my irons and did not want to switch just yet. As for playability, I went from game improvement irons with regular stiffness graphite shafts and stainless cavity heads, to these. It  is sort of like going from 10 mph in a yugo to 100 mph in a Ferrari. The feel is great, and the workablility is there. I have not been able to draw the ball as much as I can now with these AP2s. They are extremely accurate as well. Bad shots dont go off more than 10 yards, thats forgiving! All I can say is I LOVE THESE IRONs.

PS: to the previous post. Most forged irons are soft metals, that is how they can be forged. If the metal was too hard it would be too difficult to forge it into shape. So, that being said, ANY forged iron you play will tend to nick and dent easily.

  4. Thanks a lot man. I have seriously been looking at the titleist ap2's and they look like a great club, but I don't know if they are for me. I am about a nine handicap and can hit a great iron shot when needed. Would you recommend these irons of the Ap1's. Please reply and thanks.

  5. I too just got the AP2's..I am female though! I Just got them today so I have not played a round with them. But I did hit them on the range! Wow its just simply amazing! The ball bounces off the face and its just such a pure hit! I would GO GET FIT! Its makes a huge difference! I would have never guessed that i would need a mens regular shaft, but I have a good club head speed! I even went with a steel shaft and I LOVE THEM! Good luck!

If you are truely a 9 handicap then you will definitely benefit from the AP2s. Can you shape shots, do you intentionally draw or fade the ball? If you answer yes then you will need to purchase the AP2 model. The AP1s have a much different feel, they are made from stainless and are very hard. Also the club face is very large, most avid golfers dont like this look at address, it is sort of like training wheels on a bike..lol. As far as distance is concerned, I gained a good 10 yards on each club from my previous game improvement irons, which actually had less loft than the AP2s. I think that you too would realize greater distance with the AP2s.

I want to know I'm a solid ball striker and my only misses are putting but, I was wondering Does the D2 head seem big or average size? and for the Ap2 which feels more stable the AP2 or the 710 CB's?

First off, the head of the D2 is in fact large and actually larger than I like. I would go with the D3 if this is a major concern. The 20cc differnece is not that much though so I would look at other reasons to pick your driver first. Secondly, when I said that I have hit the 710s I meant the 710 model of the AP2s in comparison to my 2008 model AP2s, sorry for this confusion. If I were to estimate or give an educated guess, I would say that the AP2s will be more "stable" than the cavity back blades, if you mean consistantly accurate. But, a good ball striker would not see much differnce in accuracy between these two models.
