I just switched to the original AP2's this year.  But had the old 962 DCI's... which I loved and have passed down to my son.

The question is... my irons did NOT have the 962 stamp on them.... but look identical...did these have a different name?

  2. Hi Kevin -

Could you post a picture of one of your clubs?  You can use the insert media tab on the toolbar to upload the image into the forum.

    Thanks Nick

Here are the pics of my irons.  Had them since 1997 and just upgraded to the original AP2's. (not the 710's)  As you can see they look just like the 962's but with no stamp.  Wondering if Titleist  did like they did with the AP2's... Made the "original" 962's with no markings... then made a slight change and decided to stamp them with 962?  Just a guess....

    Thanks for your time Nick

    Nick:

Also, like a mentioned before I just purchased the original AP2's.  And I believe are authentic because I have registered them on this site.  My question is regarding the picture of my 6 iron.... due you notice in the picture how the "FORGED" is not completely painted?  Is this just a defect paint job or should I be concerned with authenticity?  All the other irons are fine... except the 8 iron in which just part of the "E" is not painted.

    Thanks for you time Nick

  5. Greetings!

I also have a set of Titleist DCI 962 "no stamp" irons. Mine have Tri Spec steel shafts.

There is some chatter on the internet about these and I was hopeful Titleist (or anyone else!) could provide me with definitive answers to some questions.

Are these (or were these) considered "prototypes"?

Did these have square grooves and the 962 irons with stamps have V grooves?

I can't find/see a serial number on the hosel of any of the clubs (it/they may have been worn off) - should this matter? Is there any significance of not being able to locate a SN? [PS I assure you these are NOT counterfeit clubs.]

Are these irons considered "forged" stainless (similar to the forging process used in the 735s) as opposed to "cast" irons?

Thank you Titleist and fellow Titleist fans!!!

    Mark L
