Here is a question for Titleist Technical Staff.
I have been struggling with my driver. I was hitting the middle of the club, but the ball just wasn't carrying. At first, I attributed it to age. But, I still hit my 7 iron 155. At 10.5 degrees the driver should be flying better. The club felt head heavy to me so I took it into the Pro to check the swing weight. I was stunned to find out that it is D5!
With my swing speed of 95+/-, I am confident that this is a problem. I was fit for this driver by an Advanced Titleist fitter(unfortunately the Pro has left). I have never changed it from factory settings. My setup:
- Mitsubishi Bassara Stiff 50G
- Alternate shaft Fujikura Speeder Stiff 65
- Multil-compound Golf Pride
- 10.5 910
My question is if I should have weight added to the butt end of the shaft or should I try to find a lighter weight insert for the head? I assume I should take it to D 0 or 1.
I am thinking that this change will make it easier for me to swing faster, unload and release the club, resulting in a higher farther ball flight.
Does this make sense?
