I play to a 6 handicap and love my 716 AP1s. Been thinking about switching them out due to age and bought a set of AP3s which just don’t perform as well for me. Also tried the 718 AP 1 and found it much clunkier than the 716s. Always been a Titleist guy, want to maintain 716 distances and excellent dispersion. Any suggestions?

In general the AP3's will be easier to hit than the AP2's, but not as easy as the AP1's. It sounds like you are buying irons w/o getting fit to the correct shaft. In the hands of a good fitter, I almost always improve my distance and dispersion over whatever the stock option is for that club. If the fitter can't improve, then I can keep my current model. For example, I carry a 915 7W. Maybe the next TS hybrid 21 degree can replace it, but the 818 couldn't Note, being LH, the 915 was the last 7W offered. But for me, the TS1 driver and T400 irons are the best clubs ever.

The 718 irons were evolutionary over the 716's The T-series irons are revolutionary updates pulling in details from the CNCPT irons. You may need to go to the T-300 to improve distance and dispersion over the 716 AP1 - but it will take some tweaking by a fitter to get the best combination for your game. That's why Titleist offers free fittings for their Titleist Thursdays.

I did purchase the AP3 without getting fit in order to test them so to speak. I agree that getting fit is what I need to do. I have heard that T200 is more forgiving than AP3 so maybe in the hands of a fitter that will work out. Thanks for the reply!

I would suggest trying the T-300's being that you were gaming 716 AP1's, but please go to a certified Titleist fitter.

T300s. Bought mine in September and the difference in performance is worth the change. Just sold my 716Ap1s this week to my neighbor. They are worth around $373. Basically same club newer model, but a club stronger. They are sweet. Love the height and distance. I always go see my fitter AND recommend seeing a fitter at a Titleist Thursday, free fittings if one close to you.
