I never had my own set of golf clubs, so this year I finally decided to pull the trigger and get fit for a full set!
Knowing myself, I assumed I'd come out the fitting with a chucky, more offset iron so that I would be able to maximize forgiveness. However, I came to find the complete opposite. I found myself incapable of striking the more forgiving irons purely and ended up selecting the T-100s, which in comparison to the T-100 are only be bent 2 degrees stronger and possibly have a touch more tungsten?
Would it not make more sense that the irons with a wider, more forgiving face be easier to hit, especially for me being a less skilled golfer?
My thoughts where that since I learned using my dads old clubs, which would be closer to blades, my eyes are more comfortable with a thinner looking club which has a more performance feel. I also feel that with the smaller face I was more concentrated on that smaller sweet spot and was left with less room for error when striking, if that makes sense.
Has anyone else had a similar experience while on their own journey for new clubs or could it just all be in my head?
