Hi Guys. I have a 917 D2 Driver, and I just noticed when hitting it the past week that It sounds like a dead or flat noise. Also, I noticed I'm losing about 50 yards of carry distance even on good hits. There is no noticeable damage anywhere. Also, the feel of hitting the ball feels like I have a steel shaft attached to my driver head. It feels terrible all of a sudden? I didn't change anything. I know it's been played since the beginning of its life since its been out.

Can a shaft do this? I checked my driver shaft and there is nothing wrong with it anywhere. It is tightened nicely to the club head. Maybe I should start looking at TS/TSI Heads?

If a shaft is fracturing, it won't be long before it fully breaks. Most likely there is a hairline crack near the face. Maybe you could put (baby) powder around the faces and see if any collects in a crack after a couple of shots with impact.
  3. if i had to guess i would say the head has a crack in it. take the shaft off and hold it under water and see if there are bubbles.
  4. Don't do this. Water in the head is bad. Titleist always says do not submerge heads. If you're losing 50 yards, it is definitely cracked.
