Anybody here like me? I wipe the face of my irons after a shot while playing and the clean the clubs with soap and water, first the club heads and the grips when I get home. When I'm watching tv in my basement, I'll check the grips and if any of them don't feel tacky, I'll put on a new one. The night before I play a round, I look at each club, check the spikes on my shoes, look my duffle bag to be sure I have a new glove and plenty of V1's. My wife thinks this is hilarious, but I feel I'm getting ready for battle and my "weapons" need to be perfect. I admit, that's pretty OCD and I've eliminated the excuse that I played poorly because of my equipment.

Man, i couldn't agree with this anymore than I do. I ALWAYS prep my gear, clothing, shoes, towels, balls, etc.. the night before any round whether it be a friendly or competitive. In my opinion, consistency and routines are paramount to success. If it weren't Titleist wouldn't have so many quality control checks when making thier balls.
If they put th eeffort in to making such great equipment, I can make hte effort to keep them that way.

Yes, I am similar. During the round I use a wet towel on them between shots. Later on in the day, though, as the sun is sets off in the distance overlooking the course, I really enjoy taking my clubs, a bucket of water (with some Dawn), a soft brush and and a deck chair out in the driveway, where I meticulously clean every club lovingly. I re-live each shot I hit with each club earlier in the day. It's one of my favorite parts of the day. I even clean all the balls that have been used kicking around in my bag from the day.

The next day, I start the whole process over again. Even when it rains or is cloudy and there is no sunset, I still enjoy cleaning and going over every shot of the day in my mind. It's so therapeutic.

Kind of the same I must admit - and I think COVID protocols have only made it more amusing for my wife.

-Clean clubs before round - check
-fresh towel on bag - check
-spare fresh towel in the bag - check
-wet towel in ziplock - check (this last one because on course cleaning is gone for now - ziplock keeps the towel wet when it gets warm)
-clean club after each shot - check
-examine grooves before each shot and reclean if needed - well you get the idea!

  9. Right there with everyone else on this thread, but one thing that I have found huge satisfaction in recently was the GrooveIt brush I purchased.

Not a product push, but it has made the on-course cleaning significantly better and therefore shortened the off course cleaning (if you are looking for that).

Just a friendly FYI to all my other OCD golfers out there ;-)

I play with a wet towel and a scrub brush, and clean my club after every shot. Even my putter. When I get home I wipe down the grips, sometimes polish the clubs a bit, and I use a black Marks-a-lot to fill in any scratches on the bottom of the woods & hybrid (even though I can't prevent them I feel better knowing they're not as visible). I check the balls in my bag, clean them, toss the scruffy ones in the practice bin, and keep about 10. I put in a new sleeve for every round, unless I have 2 unused balls from the previous round. These are my tools, and a finished product is only as good as the tools used to build it.

I was an Ironworker for 40 years. If you use crummy tools, you're going to do crummy work. I have a combo ball washer/club cleaner attached to the drivers side of my golf cart. The ball gets cleaned after every hole (every shot if we're on lift clean and place) and the club head gets cleaned after every shot. After the round I park the cart in the garage and everything gets the once over, right down to the shoes.

I thought I was one of the few that wiped my club after every shot with a wet towel. I think a clean club will perform the way it is supposed to. It also helps your trade in value if you want different Titleist clubs.
