I would be interested to hear what changes might be typical as a result of the “Tour Validation” process? Is the “Tour Validation” process more of a marketing plan to allow the supplier of the forged clubheads to produce enough clubheads for product launch? This period also allows marketing to build excitement around the product. I can only imagine the months/years of R&D, testing, etc. that takes place, and the cost of this development. “Tour Validation” would seem to only make sense for “players” irons because I cannot imagine a Tour player using anything below a T100s, unless it is a utility or long iron. On top of all of that, the supplier development and tooling cost has got to be an incredible investment and making changes to clubheads after this investment would seem like an R&D failure.
