  1. Just wondering if anyone else here is playing the 718 AP3 Irons. I have had 3 heads come off the shaft. Just hitting a regular shot and the head just flew off. Happened to my 7iron 9iron and now my PW at the range yesterday. I have gotten the 7iron and PW glued back on but my 9 iron happened on the course and flew into a pond.

This is not the quality I was hoping for when I buy Titleist. Every club in my bag is from this company and has been for the last 4 years since I started playing golf. I always update to the newest clubs but I really love my iron set right now.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I have been having so many issues with Titleist lately even my Vokey sm8 snapped in the grip and they wouldn't cover under warranty.

I am hoping they can send me a replacement 9 iron head.

Sounds like an epoxy issue... happens when clubs are subject to extreme temperatures (never leave your clubs in a hot car for example). Extreme cold can have the same effect.

The problem was discussed last year or the year before in another forum tread. There was a short period during the production of the AP series when inferior epoxy was given to Titleist and it resulted in heads coming off. If your set was one of those (and apparently it was) the entire set needs to be re-glued. Contact Customer Service (info on the bottom of the website) and see if they can still help. After so many years past normal warranty, you cannot expect them to keep covering this issue indefinitely but it does not hurt to ask.
  4. I would be asking my local golf pro to re-glue the rest of the set, so that I have confidence knowing that the epoxy glue is good in all of the heads given Dale's comment about inferior epoxy being supplied/used.

I know the pro at my course does these sorts of repairs all of the time for a small fee but it would be cheaper that getting a iron head.

I had the same issue with my 716 AP1's. I ended up trading them in for 718 AP3's, which, are still fine. It was, probably, a bad batch of epoxy. I would do as Dale suggested and contact Titleist.

They need to go to your local shop and let them epoxy them back. Never store your clubs in the trunk of your car or your vehicle, or a place where you have extreme temperature changes. The expansion and contraction will loosen the epoxy. Always try to store them in a temperature controlled environment.
