I’m considering buy a new 58 degree and not sure if I should get a raw finish on it for more spin when my grooves wear out. Does anyone here know if it adds spin or not?

Bob Vokey and the wedge team say no. They say that the majority of pros use the raw that rusts for the anti-glare characteristics and the ability to have special grinding done in the tour truck without grinding into a coated finish. The amount of practice and play those guys give their clubs, rust never gets a chance to form on the hitting area of the face on their wedges. Some people prefer the sound/feel of the raw steel when chipping over the sound/feel of chrome but chrome hit properly has just as much spin and all finishes will wear down over time on the grooves that will impact your spin. Hope this helps and any finish you get on a new Vokey will perform better than older, worn out wedges.

Every discussion or video I have seen says that it doesn't help the spin rate. Still, I plan on getting the raw finish when I update mine just because I think it looks cool.

Would love to know this as well. If it does, my worry would be the rust could cut the ball?

No, it does not. They use raw or black wedges because of glare.
