Is the difference between these utility irons the forgiveness and bounce? Or is there performance differences as well? I have been struggling with my driver giving a Push Slice or Slice so I've been using my 4i off of a lot of tee boxes and sometimes need further distance than my 4i.

As a note, I am only researching this as of now. Once I am ready to buy, I will be doing a fitting to ensure fit.

The U505 is so fat, you might as well just get a hybrid. Being that it's so fat instead of chunking it you'll probably bounce it off the ground and skull.
  3. I tried both and opted for the 505 20 degree. It launches high and long and is quite forgiving. It's also very versatile. It's great off of the tee when driver or 3 wood is too much club and is very workable for both direction and ball flight. Also, it's a great tool for trouble shots
  4. I have the U505 4 and I find it to be a fantastic fairway finder on tight driving holes. Center contact shots feel great off the face and fly nice and high for me. I usually tee it up slightly higher than an iron.

    I’ll second this. I love my U505 4i.

Definitely more forgiveness with the 505 than the T200 utility build. I hope the next iteration of the 505 is a little slimmer, or they go back to 2 different U models, one thinner and one fatter.
  7. I think the Wilson utility I have is very similar in design to the u505 and being big and forgiving is massive off the tee on a tight hole.

You’ll know what’s right for you when you go for the fitting sometimes it’s best to go in blind because what you like the look of doesn’t suit your swing.

I tell you what though if you struggling with a slice off the big dog you’re like the majority of amateurs so it might be worth checking out YouTube for vids to fix it. Try the ideas out at the range but aim at someone and do your full course setup

    I will shut up now

You are absolutely spot on though my man! Thank you for speaking it because it’s honest. I do hope after finishing paramedic school (aka having feee time and a life again lol) that I will dive DEEP into full bag lessons to perfect the details and know my swing, common misses, etc.
Purchasing a utility will probably be a post lessons buy once I know my gap and what I really need to complete my bag.
    Thank you!

  11. U505 has a wider sole with more bounce so theroretically easier to hit. The T200 Utility Build goes better visually with those playing T100 irons….

Bottom line, it is a preference thing…

I tried both before settling on the t200 utility build 3 iron. For me it was a better feel and look.
