  1. Sorry if this gets double posted. I didnt see my original come up.

Started golfing about a year and a half ago now. I practice 2-3 times a week and play a round 1-2 times a month. I'm obsessed with improving and feel like I need to be playing a club I can grow into a bit more.

11-12 handicap- Currently gaming miz JPX 923 Forged. They're great clubs, but I do struggle with spin and holding greens. I would consider myself a slightly above average striker.

Seems like the online consensus based on my handicap I should stay in the players distance category like the T200, but that would just be a bit of a lateral move.

Just curious to hear advice from some people a bit more experience or maybe have hit the T150. Is it worth just scheduling a fitting to see?

Absolutely worth scheduing a fitting- 11 - 12 handicap after 1.5 years a great accomplishment and if being properly fitted to help with your issues and continued practice wil accelerate our improvement and of course enjoyment.

Yes go see a Titleist Fitter they will set you straight. I currently play a combo set T 200’s in the 5,6 and 7 irons and T150’s in 8,9 and PW they are exceptional irons. I don’t think the T200’s is a lateral move. The T200’s are a forged club once you hit them you will be amazed. Two pros at our club are Titleist players and they both have T200’s in their bags to go with their T100 irons.

Handicap doesn’t define your strength and weaknesses. It doesn’t say if you hit 2 or 12 fairways or if you have 30 or 40 putts a round. If your JPX irons force you to adjust to the irons, then getting fit for irons adjusted to you can make a difference.
Regardless of handicap the fitting tries to optimize launch, height, and ball speed for optimal landing angle. Mixed sets come into play if there isn’t a 5 mph increase in ball sped from one to the next.
The fitter will settle on a 7 iron head to match your swing. The Titleist irons need to be thought of as tools. Don’t think of the T series as aspiring to move up to a more skilled set, they’re more of a tool kit to get optimal performance. Save that for the 620 irons.

I would suggest finding a fitter who can place you in the best Titleist head and shaft combination for your swing.

A good fitter will take on board your comments but ultimately you want the irons that will give you best results for a few seasons

Go for a fitting! They will determine your optimal setup to maximize the 3 D’s - Distance, Dispersion, Descent angle.

While spin is important when stopping the ball on greens, angle of descent is more important I believe. Get fit for irons and the Titileist fitter will look at a number of data points including angle of descent (how steep the ball falls from the sky).

I agree with the comments above, your handicap should not determine your selection of irons. I am low single digit and play T150 moving over from the T100s. They are terrific for me and may be for you as well after you see the numbers and determine whether they feel right to you. One thing is certain, there are few sets that will be more pleasing to the eye than the T150s. Good luck!
  9. Thanks for the tips everyone! I scheduled a fitting this Friday with a Titleist fitter.

I was in a very similar position. Around 11-12 handicap and getting back into the game. I had a Titleist fitting and was convinced I’d be placed in the t350 or t200 going into it.

After I hit 5 balls with my current set of irons, I went straight to the t200 to t100 and finalized at t150 for 4-gw. They will look at your swing speed , spin rate , distance etc. And for me I needed to reduce spin. And the t150 is probably more forgiving than the current old set of cavity backs I’m currently playing. I was shocked how forgiving they are!!
