Best way to get to 53 degrees

    Hello. Looking for guidance / feedback on the pros and cons of getting a 52F or 54F to 53 degrees. I have a 58v and 48 gap (T150). This wedge would need to do a lot ( full shots , chipping , occasional bunker shot ). I have read many fitters prefer to weaken a wedge but I worry a 52 to 53 may raise the leading edge and impact chipping on tighter lies ? Maybe over thinking this. The 54 is more confidence inspiring profile though ( larger head ). Any input is appreciated. That team T!

    Bounce follows the loft. Adding 1 degree of loft adds 1 degree of bounce.

    Why adjust the loft empirically? Pro’s wait to see the window and distance and then adjust as needed. Getting the correct grind for your game will be more important than whether the loft is exactly between 48 and 58 degrees. I have 2 54 and 2 58 degree wedges based on wet heavy bunkers, light fluffy bunkers and hard pan fairways.

    Yes, weakening seems to be the prefered way go- not sure why but additional 1 degree of bounce not significant and I wouldn't worry about the leading edge as I have done this before with no issue.

    I needed the same - 53 for tighter yardage gapping and use on a variety of shots.
    After playing 52F (a grind meant mostly for full shots), decided I preferred & needed a different grind for the other shots around the green. Currently playing a 54S bent to 53. D and F grinds also available in 54*.
    So no feedback on comparable leading edge, but better grind variability in 54* vs 52*.

    I always play my Vokey 54 S grinds at 53 or 53.5.

    Current setup:

    SM9 48 @ 48.5
    SM9 54s @ 53.5
    SM9 58s @ 57.5
