So, I'm changing up my bag. I had a 3Wood and 4hybird last season TM qi10. I went for a Titleist fitting and wow, I learned a lot, and found out my irons were even wrong for me, Thanks PXG for that ;-( So now I'm crushing the 5wood, how I wanted to hit my 3wood, definitely a lot easier to crush. Now on my own I decided to complete my package with a 7wood to replace the 4Hybrid. When I hit the 7wood its just as easy as the 5wood. The Titleist GT 2 is just amazing!! Does anyone run this kind of set up? Do I really need a Hybrid and am I going to miss it?

I use driver and two fairways but also use a high lofter hybrid instead of a 5 iron. Lots of people playing multiple fairways and leaving out the hybrid but you need to do what works best for you, not what anyone else does. I also like to have different clubs that can be mixed and matched depending on where I am going to play. Some wedges and some other combinations change for courses like my Bandon trips versus playing soft, elevated parkland style courses.

If the 7W completes the distance gap you used the hybrid for, then the answer is 80% you can keep it. Are there turf conditions (…tall rescue) that you used your hybrid for that the 7W isn’t as easy? Or would you use a 5 iron anyway? If the club is the right tool for the job, it is the right club.

From experience, the five iron vs hybrid is a trial and error individual thing. I have a 11.25* TSiD, 15* TSIF, 18* TSR1F, 20* TSR1H, 5-48W. irons. I ordered the TSR1 23*, played with it for a while and decided that I need more flexibility and ordered the 5 iron. Seems the five iron works best for me. At 78, it keeps me in better shape.
