Hi all! I need an 18 degree club to fit in my bag to fit between my 15 degree fairway and my 23 degree U505. The new U505 4 iron has changed my game off the tee, dropping 6 shots off my handicap since my fitting - by hitting more fairways on our shorter Par 4s and longer Par 3s. The rage has been to fill the gap with a hybrid…but I like the look and feel of the Utility. And there are also the 18 degree GT fairway woods? It’s hard to get demo clubs…so any thoughts on how to make a choice?

Why not get a GT2 21 fairway? A lot easier to hit vs an 18 hybrid. Plus better off the fairway vs a GT2 18. I had the GT2 18 at 42”; great off the tee but limited use on the fairway.

40.5” for an 18 hybrid. Typical 7 wood is 41.5”.

    I play my 4 wood at 42.5” (TSR2 16.5).

    I’ve been carrying 7 woods since 2008. Or a 19 fairway and a 9 wood (up until 2015). Went back to a 9 wood early last year (TSR1 23; have Diamana x5ct 72S at 40.5”).

All 18 degree clubs are not equal. A hybrid, utility iron, and fairway wood of the same loft will likely all carry and roll out different distances. You'll need to decide how you are going to use the club, which look and feel you prefer, and then find a loft in that club that fills the gap you are looking to cover.
