I have been using Titleist Cart Bags for the last 5 or 6 years and really love them from a functional perspective. Everything is completely accessible when on a cart, as it should be, due to the reverse cuff, the typical design on a cart bag. I am totally used to having my clubs displayed for me with the short clubs in the front of the bag and the long ones in the back. It just makes it so easy to find and pull clubs. Though I also have a Titleist Stand Bag, using it on the cart reverses the layout (if you want the pockets accessible) so that the long clubs are in the front and the short ones behind, requiring a reach-around to gain access to the most often used clubs (other than driver), wedges and putter. Much more cumbersome.

I usually change bags every couple years. I play and/or practice nearly everyday, so my bags can get pretty dogeared in that time, though all of my Titleist bags are still in good condition, just not new looking any longer. So, it's now time for another new bag.

I really like the look of the Midsize Staff Bag and noticed the cuff seemed to be very similar in the front and back. Has anyone used the bag as a cart bag and set it up so that the main pockets face out and the driver and woods are in the back with shorter stuff in front? (Like a dedicated cart bag.) With this set up, the strap would be at the front of the bag, as would all the primary pockets typically needed during a round. The problem I see is that, when carrying the bag to and from the car, range, or whatever, you would not easily be able to rest your arm on the driver head in the traditional carry sense, as it would be closer to the ground/further away from your elbow.

Has anyone set their staff bag up this way? Does walking with the bag with the strap over your shoulder feel unnatural? Look weird? It just seems with the cuff height equal in front and back that the bag could be set up in either format, with driver and/or wedges in the back or front when on the cart. Just worried it won't be feasible for carrying with the clubs reversed.

Can you picture what I mean?

I can speak to the mid-Staff bag....Love it! I use it mostly on an electric push cart, but when I forget to charge the battery (more often than I like to admit), I use in on a golf cart. I don't like "cart bags", I don't like the "reversed" way they are set up and do find it goofy just carrying it from the car. However, the mid-staff bag to me is just set up so well, with so much space I have no problem using it well on the cart. The only pocket that is a problem to get to is the one on the face of the bag. I put extra ball markers, sharpies, pencils, etc. in this that aren't needed very often. The side pockets and the "ball" pockets are great, and the smaller pocket above the "ball" pocket is where I keep my range finder, tethered to the bag. I've had it 3 years and you'd never know it was that old. Durable. You wouldn't find me carrying it for less than a grand a week and 10% of the winnings, but on a riding cart, push cart, or my electric push cart it's the best.
  3. Hi Doug E,

I am in the same boat.....I have emailed Titleist UK and posted on this forum, sadly I have had no response from Titleist. I was going to buy the Stadry cart bag but found that the hood zipper opened outwards towards the elements..this was a fundamental flaw. I have since found that you can no longer find this bag to buy....so maybe they will release a revised version for next year?.

I was too thinking of the Staff bag on a Clicgear trolley...but am thinking of the Midsize Staff Cart bag instead...the one specifically designed for a Cart/trolley. To be honest because I live no where near a Titleist/good pro shop/ and the lack of response from Titleist I am getting a bit frustrated about this....the only way as I see it is to physically see the item and have a 'play' with it to see if it works for your requirements.

I'll be interest to find out any more info and will with this thread with interest.

Agreed with Tom on the carry part. Even the mid-size staff bag is heavy and the same size the tour pro's/caddy's use. I carried mine maybe 2-3 times overall. Was dead at the end of each of those rounds. If you plan to play, not just caddy, then use a stand bag.

The way I set it up on the cart was "backwards" so to say. Had woods on strap end, wedges/putter on other. When on the cart though, I face it with the wedges end out. Put all the balls, tees etc in the little pocket. It fits well on the cart and does not move much during a round like a stand bag does.

I collect Scotty Cameron bags. Both their staff and stand bags are awkward on a cart. The Titleist mid-size staff bag has always been the best fit. However, use the Cameron bags often too. Don't own to collect dust......

Okay, I just checked out the new Midsize Staff Bag for 2017. Evidently it won't be released until February. I love the look of it and have my heart set on one. However, there is a $40 price increase over the 2016 version. It's shown in the 2017 Accessories catalog at $300 MSRP. Can anyone explain why there is a 15%+ increase over last year's model? That's a sizable increase. Also, the weight specification increased from 5.8 lbs. to 7.8 lbs. That's a huge increase! What changed so much from the 2016 version to justify the big price increase and why is it so much heavier this year?

I have the Mid Size Staff bad, a smaller carry bag and a cart bag all Titleist. I got the Staff bag last year mid season because just carrying the cart bag to the car drives me crazy. Just uncomfortable and awkward. Love the Staff bag. Any of those days where it's just a carry and go I always have the carry bag packed with some ball and a glove ready to just switch the clubs and go!
