I'm curious. How many people wear a glove while putting? Why or why not?

Never! But I honestly cannot tell you why... haha.. Tradition i guess? Not sure.. I've tried putting with it and just feels awkward...

So when i putt, it goes in my back pocket...

I always go no glove in putting I like the feel of gripping the putter for the delicate putts. I think it wouldn't affect my longer putts that are just lagging it close, but out of habit I always take it off.
  4. I always take my glove off anywhere within 50 yards of the green to help increase my feel/touch and so I can put one close!

I go back and forth on this, Duane. Jack never took his glove off. Tiger took his glove off after every shot. If play is slow, I take it off. If it's a tournament, I take it off. Otherwise, I keep it on.

No glove. I have better feel without a glove on.

Never! Gotta get that feel. Spent way to much $$ on my peel out purple pistolero gripping not to...

No glove for me. In fact, I don't use a glove for any shot less than 100 yards that is a "feel" shot. Just more comfortable wihtout it.

Yeah, I'm a no glove guy for putting as well. Same reason as all the others here: feel.

I agree with most everyone posting already. My personal preference is no glove for putting (and even on the shots around the green) in order to get as much feel and feedback as possible. The grips also have an impact on this.
  11. No glove. I want every bit of feel when I'm putting; even the slightest off line hit can results in a badly missed putt. I would say do whatever feels best, but most people putt without a glove.

I always putt with my glove on. Why take it off. I think it's a silly thing people do because they've seen other people do it.

Let's take a step back and think of the reasons...
I have no feel, control, whatever. I mean, what? No offense to anyone who said that (my beliefs are no more important than yours, they are just my own), but you hit a little flop shot with your glove on, but you can't putt with it on? You don't lose any feel putting with a glove and I challenge you to a putt-off. If you believe it, well, that's fine, it's in kyour head and this is a head game anyway.

Leaving it on it easier, better for your glove, takes less time, is less distracting for other players (sound of velcro)....
  13. I've never heard anyone complain about the sound of velcro on a golf course:) If they do - then just stick it pin high on your approach and take your glove long before you get to the green for your tap in birdie!

If it's nice and not too warm, no glove ever. If it is hot, I wear it for every shot.

    Duane,
I putt with my glove on. No particular reason one way or the other. I've tried a couple of times to remember to take it off as a trial but ended up forgetting to remove it so I just gave up the trial. The weird thing is that when I putt at home I don't put a glove on. This could explain many things about my game :). I guess my view would be to do whatever feels right to you. As they say, a lot of golf is played between the ears. Fairways and greens.

I agree with most that I do not use a glove for putting, with one exception - rain gloves, once on, never off during the round.

I agree with Christoper H., it just feels awkward, so I never use it when putting.

I always wear a glove. Consistent feel on all my clubs.

No glove. I play as I practice. That also means I do not take practice strokes as I do not do that either. I look at the putt, see the line and go, just like on the practice green.

Glove off, for putting and around the green. My glove is for full shots that require a little tackiness so the club doesn't fly out of my hands.

I do not use a glove at all. Woods/Irons/or Putter. Only if I am playing in a steady rain
