What a day! Hole in One #2.
My first hole in one was made at The Cedars Golf Club in Zebulon, GA back in April of 1995 on hole #12 a month before I turned 16 years old. Uhhh….that was a long time ago! The hole played sharply uphill and my playing partner (Bobby Moody himself - The Man, The Myth, The Legend) and I did not see it go in the hole. Bobby taught me how to play the game. He was a multi-year golf letterman at UGA.
Today at Highland Park in Birmingham, AL one of our teammates hit one within 4-5 inches on hole 13. That got us talking about hole in ones. I shared with them the story about the one I made and how I didn’t see it go in the hole.
Fast forward 4 holes…. I hit a shot right at the flag tucked right behind a bunker with a high lip. I really didn’t think much of it. However, me being the smarty pants I am told my wife, Karen Austin, as we pulled away from the tee box if we don’t see a ball by the hole you better get your phone out and start recording. I was kidding! Well she did record and we have a fabulous video of our natural reaction to me finding my beautiful Titleist #2 in the hole.
So now I have two hole in ones in my lifetime and I’ve managed to see neither of them go in the hole!
Golf is a funny game!
