On 12/28/23 I teed off on Hole #3 on The Hills at LPGA Daytona Beach, FL. This is a hole that usually gives me a fit. The tee shot flies over marsh to an elevated green, surrounded by forest. The greens are firm and difficult to hold.
I watch my shot land near the pin, so I figured I had a shot a birdie, par at worst. When I got to the green, my ball was nowhere to be seen, so I figured it hit, and rolled off the side. I looked but couldn't locate my ball. Last resort, I looked in the hole, and there it was.
I am 74 years old, and this was particularly significant, since I have been unable to play for the last 6 months, due to a back injury. My son was with me celebrating his birthday weekend. That hole in one made both our day!
