Recently, I was fortunate enough to get an invitation to play The Vintage Club in Indian Wells. I've played a fair amount of exclusive private clubs, but this place is on a different level. The day was already going extremely well when I stepped up to the tee on the 17th hole on the Mountain Course. With 128 yards to the pin, playing slightly downhill to an adjusted 125, I reached for my trusty SM8 50* wedge. I absolutely flushed it right at the pin, but a slight breeze pushed the ball about 2 yards left of the pin. The ball landed 3 yards long, caught a little slope that moved it back towards the hole, and pulled right back into the cup for a 1!!!
5 days later, I was fortunate enough to be at TPI for a new SM10 fitting event and had the pleasure of meeting Bob Vokey. I got to tell him how his club helped me record my first ace in 20 years of playing golf and that my SM8 gap wedge was being retired at the top of its game!
