  1. Saturday August 27th 2022.

My Friend Derek and I are getting married in the same year so life is a little hectic to say the least.

Beautiful Saturday morning there are about 5 Groups of guys starting off our day with a nice little scramble to celebrate Derek. I get paired with two of my best friends and the younger brother of Dereks best friend who happens to be a pro hockey player (also plays barefoot...) 6 holes in we're having a good time telling hockey stories and chatting about Derek (the bachelor) we pull up to the 6th tee after just making bogey on a short par 4.... moral was a little low but with the opportunity for a little birdie juice infant of us we pulled it together to reset and take the par 3 as a group. All of teammates go first, all missing the green, moral dips again. Thinking to my self as I walk up to the tee "just hit one in the middle of the green and give the boys a putt". I toss my ball down on pick my line left center of the green and plan cut it in to the left to right slopping green. 181 yards on the card lasered at 178 front right pin slightly elevated green. I hit the shot, felt nice leaving the face but a little left of my line. The distance looked good as it started to fade back towards the hole. Ball lands 12-15 yards left of the pin with one hop and starts to spin. the slope helping the ball is tracking... Moral is growing... thing to my self okay nice Job Tyler you got the boys a chance at Birdie... the ball isn't stopping getting ever closer to the whole.. finally it disappears... NOW I have to admit I am a bit of a self deprecating pessimist about my own golf game. so I make the comment "it probably went by the whole and ran off the right side of the green". to give a little more context the way the sun was hitting the green it had a sheen to it that made it hard to see the ball. My pessimism is met by outrageous optimism by my group as we get in our carts and head to the green. As a good friend out to celebrate our soon to be wed buddy Derek, we had some cold adult beverages as we approached the green no one would go up and look saying "no sir you hit it you find it" I slowly walk towards the hole not seeing a other ball on the right side or near the whole my excitement grew, until finally there she was I had done it! I made my first hole-in-one! I swiftly punted my adult beverage and was embraced by my friends! Screaming so loud the entire course knew! even righting this I am still emotional playing since I was 3 years old, being close on a few occasions, it finally happened. what really got me at the end is that it was the 20th anniversary of the passing of my grandfather, the man who taught me how to play and love this great game. Because of that I had to make Grandma my first phone call!
