Hi,
I recently had a chance to go to Bandon Dunes for a week with my friends. This has always been a bucket list trip for me and something I looked forward to everyday leading up to the trip. We arrived at the resort on Sunday and the weather was pretty good. A little cloudy and around 55 degrees. Monday was our first round of golf and we played Sheep Ranch. The weather had turned and was now about 15-20 mph winds coming off the ocean and raining. After battling the wind and rain for a few hours we were making our way through the back 9. We got to hole #16 which sits right on the edge of the bluff. We were playing from the green tees and the flag was 142 yards out. I was the 3rd player to tee off and I grabbed my 9 iron. I hovered over my ball trying to get my balance with the wind blowing and took my swing. I hit it clean and the ball was headed straight for the pin. It was a little bit of a lower line shot so it didn't seem that the wind affected it much. It hit about 10 yards before flag and slowly rolled towards the hole. I didn't think much of it at the time and was just super happy I was going to be able to putt for a birdie opportunity. It felt like everything was in slow motion. It kept rolling a few more seconds and then all of a sudden the ball just disappeared. All of a sudden my group just erupted. Clubs were flying in the air followed by hugs and hand slaps. I couldn't believe it! I never thought I would hit a whole in one and to do it in such a magical place was truly special. It took me a few hours for it to really sink in what just happened. I'm just so happy I was able to share it with 3 of my really good friends and the way they celebrated my accomplishment the rest of the week made the trip one I will never forget.
A funny little side note is I have never played with the Pro V1x balls before. I knew I was low on balls so we stopped at Fiddlers on the Green in Eugene right after we landed at the airport. I picked up a box of the Pro V1x balls that are #5-8. Sheep Ranch was the very first time I have ever played with them. Lucky number 7 was the magic ball that day. I know what will be in my golf bag from here on out. Thank you Titleist.
