Found out the Friday before that I would have a rare Monday off of work. Decided to play at the last minute. Went off with 3 guys I’ve never met. Didn’t say much but the first two holes except the introductions and ”nice shot” - Got to the 3rd hole and found out we were all new fathers and this was all of our first outing since we had kids. When we got to the 3rd hole it’s a mid length par 3. It was 168 yard (front pin) slight wind in our face with 155 carry over a pond. The first three in the group all hit fading shots that all splashed into the water as the pond got tougher to carry if you missed right. I stepped up after the 3rd splash and the one who just hit said “You’re our groups only hope to do something on this hole” to which I reply “Good chance I make it 4 out of 4” - I took a look at the flag and it felt nice off the club (7 iron) and going right at the flag. I know it’s clearing the water and I’m not really watching. I take a few steps off the box when I take a curtesy glance at the green and I see it land and hop and disappear. The group is saying they think it went in, but there is the possibility it’s close and we just can’t see the ball. We start the drive to the hole around the pond and keep looking at the green, no ball is in sight, park the carts and we make our way to the hole and there it is resting at the bottom of the cup. Have a little celebration and then finish off the hole. Group is so excited after we drive to the wrong hole next and have to turn around to get to hole 4.
